I couldn't even look at the screen. I could feel my heart almost beat out of my chest. I felt a couple of pats against my back and a lot of cheering.
I quickly opened my eyes and saw Lando on pole. "He did it" I mumbled, mostly to myself but I'm sure Will and Zak heard it too.
Carlos ended on P9, he couldn't do another fast lap, he actually sacrificed his own result for Lando.

I jumped off the pitwall and made my way to where Lando would park his car, but I had a make a quick stop first.
I softly put my hand on Carlos back as he was taking his helmet off. "Thank you" I whispered.
"What for? I did nothing" he shrugged his shoulders before walking away. He left me confused for a second before he turned around and winked at me.
Max had his teammate to help him out, but Lando had friends.

Lando got out of his car and put his fist in the air. It was like he won the championship already, we were celebrating like he did. He ran up to us and hugged everyone of his team. He opened the visor of his helmet and looked at me. "Pole or nothing, right?" his eyes showed he was smiling and so was I.
I was so proud, so happy for him. I kissed his helmet quickly.
No matter what happened tomorrow, nothing could take this away from us.

Lando walked in the hospitality with his bottle of water. You could see that he was tired, I noticed that he didn't sleep well lately, he was obviously nervous, even though he would never admit to that.
"You still have to do your interviews?" I asked as he was standing behind me. His hands were on my shoulders. "Yes unfortunately" he groaned a little. "I'm going with you" I said as I got up.
He raised his eyebrow and looked at me confused. "Why?"
I grabbed his hand and pulled him outside of the hospitality with me. It wasn't something I wanted to discuss where everyone could hear us.
"Because we need to get rid of Maya for once and for all. She's destroying Max and Sophie's relationship, just like she tried to destroy ours" I explained as we were walking to the media pen.
"So what have you planned?" he chuckled, he knew I wouldn't come unprepared. I gave him a paper, he quickly started reading it. "So we never have to do interviews with them again?" he raised his eyebrow, this time because he was actually happy, maybe impressed.
"Indeed and they definitely can't have that, especially since you're almost champion" I nudged him laughing.
I expected her to come see us as soon as we gave her and her colleagues this paper. She wouldn't have a choice. I didn't mind if she stayed, I just wanted her to tell the truth, even if Max was actually the dad.

"Hi Maya" I said as I walked up to her. "Skye" she nodded but her eyes quickly went to Lando. "So we won't do any interviews with you guys anymore. It's all explained in this letter, which we will send to your boss as well" I said as I handed her the paper. She started to turn white as she was reading through it.
"Y-you can't do this" she stuttered. "We actually can Maya and we did. You can't just forge official documents and not expect us to do anything about it." Did she really not thing about the consequences?
I turned to Lando and kissed his cheek softly. "I'll see you tonight" I whispered. He nodded as he walked to the next journalist, completely ignoring Maya.

We didn't even give Maya the chance to come see us after the interviews because we went to our room immediately after them.
We wanted her to sweat a little, to have a sleepless night, just as we had several of them because of her.

————————

We didn't have a good night of sleep either, for whole different reasons. I think both of us were pretty nervous.
Today was raceday, Lando's last chance to become champion, he had to win so he could make no mistake.

We were walking out of the hospitality, on our way to the garage when Carlos stopped us. "Goodluck little muppet" he said as he hugged Lando. I knew Lando thanked him several times for yesterday already but Carlos kept denying he had anything to do with it.
"You've got this" he patted his back before walking to his own garage.

Lando didn't say much, not during the strategy meeting and not now when we were standing in the garage.
"Are you nervous?" I looked at him as he was leaning against the table. "I'm feeling so sick" he chuckled. "It feels like I could throw up any second" he looked at me. Nervous was an understatement.
I put my hands on his face and looked him in the eyes. "I understand, I'm nervous too but just imagine that this race is just any other race. Just have fun and it doesn't matter if you win or lose because honestly it doesn't matter baby. We all love you" I placed my lips against his and he wrapped his arms around me.
We needed this moment together before he had to jump in his car.

As he got ready to drive out of the garage, I walked to the pitwall and sat down. I turned around and looked at him.
The visor of his helmet showed his eyes just a little. They were looking at me, just as I was looking at him. "I love you" I mouthed. I couldn't see his lips, but I was sure he was mumbling the same inside his helmet.

I was so nervous and it got even worse when they were standing in front of the five lights, waiting for them to go out.
