Chapter 3, Part 2

Cato pov:

We all sit in a silence. Pollux is praying in the corner, i assume for all of our dead soldiers. The twins, Boggs, and Lieutenant. A snarl can be heard from the sewer. "you guys hear that...?" i say quietly. I lift my body up from where i am and lower myself down the ladder. I can see slight movement but it could be hallucinations. Like earlier i saw Clove, standing in the doorway of the Tigris lady's house.

It was just an illusion, an illusion the Capitol has set up. Out of no where i'm pounced on by an alien sort of thing. "CATO!" Katniss screams, i manage to fend it off with my gun head, i shoot it in the head a few times before sprinting up the ladder. More and more pile through the wet sewer. "CLIMB UP!" Cressida yells, she climbs up another ladder into a small section, Peeta has to be pushed up by his feet because of his restraints. "Katniss up!" i rush her, i look back to whoever is left, just me and Finnick.

He's being thrown around by what Cressida calls 'mutts'. I aim my gun directly towards them; blowing their brains out (if there are any). He climbs up before me and the mutts try and knaw at my leg. I kick them off with minor damage. "god dammit!" maybe the damage isn't so minor, i have a huge mark in the shape of teeth on my leg. "let's wrap it.. then get the hell out of here." Cressida scoffs "we came all this way for what?! i'm not going down without knowing Snow is 6ft under!" she yells

"just wrap me, we're close!" i say, her fingers are cold against my leg and i shiver. "we're about 2 miles out from the Capitol. I advise Pollux stay with Peeta." I look to Pollux, he can't speak but he nods yes. "alright let's do this."

"Gifts from the Capitol!" the people around us cheer. Snow is making everyone stay at the Capitol since we're 'dangerous'. In an instant my ears are ringing, im thrown back against the doors of a peacekeeper car. An explosion had just gone off. Gale is rushing to aid Katniss who is laying back. My back aches but i need to help her. "Gale! is she ok?!!" he looks at me and nods. She shoots up when she sees all the medics rush to care

"Prim?" her sister. Her sister is here, as a medic. "Primrose!" she calls, they look at each other as if they know something is gonna happen. The closer she gets to Prim the louder everything gets. I've got to have a concussion or something. Another explosion. All ringing stops when Katniss is blown backwards into us. I pass out from the overwhelming pain that's rushes through my body.

I wake up to soft hands caressing my face. When i open my eyes i see Clove. "Clo?" i say softly, my throat aches badly. "shh it's ok, i'm here" her voice is calming and cold against my forehead. "where are we?" i look around and we aren't in 13, i think it's a train, "we're going to D1, where Katniss will finish off Snow." i feel a wave of relief run over me. "finally.." it hits me then that i wouldn't have to worry about Dash going into the trenches of the arena

"where's dash?" i'm not frantic because i know he's ok "he's sleeping, he's been waiting up for you everyday" i smile "and us? shouldn't we be sleeping?" she shakes her head "we're 2 minutes out love, as soon as we get there we will meet at the town square and watch his execution" her breathing is light and she seems pretty unfazed by all of this.

"how's this one treating you?" i rub her little tummy lump "no nausea or anything, but i'm always very hungry~" we laugh in sync "wake up babe" she says, i scrunch my eyebrows "what..?" i look back at her again "wake up. it's not real." i touch around her face and body, it feels so real. she pinches me and my eyes shoot open again. I look around frantically, for anything to anyone. My body aches in pain "hello?!" i scream out.

Katniss pokes her head out from around the corner "finally your awake!" she rushes over to me. her face has a few burn marks but she's still thriving "how lo-" she cuts me off again "3 days, we're going back to the Capitol, your free to stay." she says, she seems out of breath and tense "i- uhm.. yeah let's go." i haven't even thought this through, this is a suicide mission basically. "alright let's go!" i stand up and stretch my legs and back

3 days has made me tense. i rush out the two doors of wherever we are and i can see the back entrance of the Capitol. "ok, we enter through there, move in to the main room, if he's not there we separate and find him. keep him captive till execution." Cressida instructs. Everyone nods and i notice Pollux is gone "where's Pollux?" i ask "he's in the control room, he's gonna cut the lights" Peeta jitters at the sight of the Capitol. "hey stay by me ok?" he looks to me and i can see the shaking fear in his eyes "ok.."

i touch his arm "if it gets to be to much, i'll get you out of there." he nods. "alright move in.." Cressida is the first inside and we all carefully scan the area. It's light and very quiet except our footsteps that echo down the hall. Gale dips into a room and scatters around. No sight of him. The lights go off. "alright everyone split up, Gale and Katniss go left, i'll go right with Finnick, then Cato and Peeta go towards the lab."

Peeta looks at me, his face goes red and he looks like he's a bout to puke. "i don't think that's a good idea..." I say, quietly of course. "wh-" she starts but stops herself when she sees his face "ok Finnick let's head to the lab." we all begin walking but it goes pitch black "isn't it to early to-" Cressida gasps and i frantically look around "Cressida?!" she screams and the lights flicker on. A girl maybe around Gales age stands with a knife for Cressida's throat.
