9. Recovery and Realizations

Sera made her way downstairs with the information she had just gained, she couldn't believe the authorities would do this! And worst of all they made John think what they did was ok and that he deserved it! Lost in her thoughts she didn't realize she had reached the living room where everyone was waiting.

Remi: "Seraphina!?"

Sera: "Oh sorry kinda zoned out for a bit..."

Remi: "That's fine, we were just asking about what John."

Sera: "Oh he's doing better, he's in the shower..."

Blyke: "Phew, glad you were able to pull him out of it..." 

Isen: "Yeah...so are you going to explain to us what happened?"

Sera: "I think it would be better if John explained it, but the backstory is, John was a Late Bloomer, meaning, he only got his ability in his final year of middle school...so until then he was a cripple..."

All of them were shocked at this new information.

Isen: "So for most of his life he was a cripple..."

Blyke: "Wait, then how on earth did he get to the level he is now, in just..."

Blyke: "3-4 years...and 2 of those years he didn't even use it!"

Arlo: "So you're saying that he got this strong in only 1-2 years?!"

Isen: "Wow! That's really impressive, I believe all of us have had our abilities most of our lives...how on earth did he get so strong!?"

Sera: "Well he trained really hard after finding out that he had one...and in his second year of high school he was a 7."

Arlo: "Wait! Your saying he went from a 1 to a 7, IN ONLY 2 YEARS!?"

Sera: "Yup! But because he was a cripple most of his life he was extremely mad at the system, so he became destructive...and well one day a friend of his, Claire, who had helped him train and her ability was that she could see short visions of the future..., decided to try and stop him because she had had a vision that herself the jack and a large group of people were standing against him...so she asked the jack to help her, but when he refused, she lied and told him that she had only been friends with John because before meeting his she saw him gain power and rise to the top, but John's other friend, Adrion, had overheard her and tried to warn John... but he didn't believe him until Claire told him to meet her somewhere and ambushed him..."

Remi: "...Oh, so she had good intentions but from John's perspective after realizing Adrion was right about Clair ambushing him...he would be right about everything else...so the ambush meant their entire friendship was a lie..."

Blyke: "Oh, yeah that sounds pretty traumatic..."

Isen: "But would arguing with Arlo trigger that?"

Arlo: "Wait...Did he see me as Claire because of..."

Sera: "Exactly, but that's not even the worst part...even though there were so many people, John still won, but because of his state of mind...he knocked out everyone including Claire, but before he did...she called him a few hurtful words and the word MONSTER stuck and worst of all is he believed all the things she told him, which is why he decided to hide his ability."

Everyone turned to Arlo, as he stood there shocked.

Arlo: "I d-didn't know..."

Sera: "But you didn't have to push him! You could have just minded your own business!"

Arlo: "At that time I didn't realize ok, I now see that there are a few problems with the hierarchy...but at the time I thought that everyone should follow the system..."
