"I feel so sick..."

"What's wrong?" Boris asked as he sat down on my couch.

I sit up a little bit and pulled my knees to my chest.

"I um, I don't know. I work in a hospital it could be anything." I say laughing softly.

Boris scrunched his face up and moved back.

"Should I leave?" He asked.

"Mm yeah... probably..." I joke making him laugh. "No it's probably just a little bug or something." I say shaking my head.

"Those can be contagious." He said.

"Then why did you come over after I said I wasn't feeling good?" I ask crossing my arms.

Boris looked me in the eyes and smiled. He stared at me in silence for a minute or so before answering.

"I just wanted to see you." He answered. "Is that a crime?"

"No." I simply responded.

After last night, I made up in my mind that Devale and I need to be apart. He's a good friend but as far as a relationship, I can't see that happening right now. We're on two different paths. I feel like he has some growing up to do. Actually, I know he has some growing up to do.

It just sucks because the ball is coming up and I really wanted to go with him. There's been so much drama going on up to now I think it's better if we go with other people. I have been thinking about ditching the entire thing all together. I'll probably just stay home or work a double that night.

Not talking to Devale gives me the time to get to know Boris. Our dinner last night was great and we had good conversation. I found out he actually has two kids and he's divorced but it's been three years and he said he's ready to settle down. He even went to therapy. It's so rare to find a man who will go to therapy, especially a black man. I know for sure Devale would never go. He's too childish. He thinks he so perfect. It makes me sick.

"I really like the flowers." I say grabbing my face.

Inside was the new bouquet of red orchids. I didn't know places in Chicago sold flowers this pretty. A lot of girls like roses because they're the average flower that resembles love. But orchids are a rarity. Nobody has ever given me red orchids before.
