"Hey." I said walking up behind Crystal.
She jumped a little bit and turned around. "You scared me." She said.
"Sorry." I apologized smiling. "You feeling better?" I ask.
"Well I'm a little nauseas but I don't have a fever so I decided to come in. Plus my Covid test is negative." She said shrugging.
"That's good." I tell her. "Maybe you ate something." I suggest.
"Yeah probably but I'm okay. Thank you for checking on me." She said grabbing my hand.
I smiled and and leaned in a little bit. She took a step back from me. As bad as I wanted to kiss her, we both knew that I couldn't happen in the hallways of our workplace. People are already talking and we don't wanna give them anymore to talk about. Even though everybody knows I'm crazy about Crystal.
"Wanna have lunch together?" She asked batting her eyelashes.
"Yeah give me about fifteen minutes and we can meet somewhere." I tell her.
"I wanna go out for lunch. I need some air." She said.
"Okay that's fine." I said agreeing with her.
"Hi love birds." Novi said sticking her head in the middle of us. "Are you guys back together?" She asked flashing a contagious smile.
"No, we're just friends." Crystal answered.
I had a problem with how fast she answered but I wasn't going to make a scene about it. To be honest, I can't wait until this whole "just friends" thing is over with. I want to be with Crystal more than a friend. We weren't meant to be friends, we're meant to be lovers. I don't know when or how we're gonna get there, but I'm willing to work it out.
"Did you guys hear about--"
"Novi, how do you be knowing everybody's business? You don't even talk to anybody.." I said making Crystal laugh.
Novi rolled her eyes and huffed a little bit.
"Shut up Devale. I know somebody who talks to everybody." She said playing with her hair. "Anyways, I heard that Morris and Zena are back together." She whispered to us.
"No I don't think so." Crystal said shaking her head. "Who told you that?" I ask her.
"Tessa told me. She heard it through the grapevine."
"That damn grapevine is messy. Y'all messy too." I say pointing at Crystal adn Novi.
"What did I do? I'm just listening." Crystal shrugging.
"So It's still messy."
Before either of them could respond my pager started going off. I looked at them and shook my head.
