I left work a little early because I had people coming to repaint my place and I needed to be there. But, I was thinking about going out and looking for Morris. I have been texting and calling him, he's not answering his phone. I'm trying to help Zena because she's my friend but I can't do everything. Morris is a grown man and he has to take responsibility for his actions. Whether that happens this week or next week, he's going to either be suspended from his job or fired, or he's going to be arrested. He honestly needs both to happen to him.
Yes, Morris is my friend but I'm always on the side of the right. Plus, I don't want Crystal to think that just because Morris and I are close friends that I don't have my own kind. A lot of the times I try to talk Morris out of the stupid stuff he does but he just dances to the beat of his own drum.
We started our residency at the hospital together. He wasn't always like this. When I first met him, he had a fiancé and he was happy. He always looked into the future and talked about wanting kids and moving out of state to raise his family. After him and his fiancé broke up, he did a complete 360. She worked in the hospital too, she wasn't a doctor or nurse, she organized all our charity events and educational seminars. I never did find out what happened but if the new Morris then he needs to double back, get some help and move on with his life.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
"Come in." I said standing against the wall.
The door opened I turned my head. Crystal was walking in covering her mouth and her nose. She had a gift bag in her hand.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" I ask her.
"I um-- damn that pain is strong." Crystal said making me laugh.
"I know I'm not even supposed to be in here without a mask." I tell her.
Crystal shook her head. "Then why are you?" She asked.
"You don't have to worry about me. I'm a big boy." I tell her. "What brings you by?" I ask her.
"I wanted to apologize for the way I acted earlier. I didn't mean to snap on you like that." She said. "I just got this anxiety about us--"
I cut her off, "It's okay. I understand." I said shaking my head.
"Oh okay. Great." She said. "I got you something." She said handing me the small giftbag.
I smiled softly and grabbed it. I peeked inside and saw a share size bag of Wild Berry Skittles, my favorite, and a card. I reached in and grabbed the card. I opened the envelope and pulled the card. It was some type of "I'm sorry" card. Very cute and funny. She didn't havee to do al of this, it wasn't that serious.
"Open the card." She said.
When I opened the card inside was a ticket to the Legacy Ball.
"Are you okay?" Crystal asked softly. "I know I was a bitch earlier but they started seling the tickets when you left, I thought about you and how much I want to go to the ball with you." She said nodding her head.
