Devale

I opened my eyes and saw the TV still on from last night. As soon as I got home, I got right in the bed. I've been working so much and now that Dr. Glover is leaving, I feel like my work has doubled. Besides that, Crystal and I haven't really had a lot of time together. So I've been trying to plan something for us to do. If we can both get just one day off work to be with each other, I feel like it would make us just a little bit stronger. As long as she stops getting sick every time I try to take her out.

Besides Crystal and I trying to put the spark back into our friendship, I'm going to start being more active in Jayla's life. Lauren and I haven't talked much about coming up with an arrangement for her. We both work the same schedule pretty much, so it's going to be hard, but I'm going to try. I don't wanna be a dead beat that's not how I was raised. Despite Lauren and I being exes, we have a child now and that's what's important. The rest of the bs doesn't matter.

"Shit." I said rubbing my head.

I got up and went downstairs. I looked in the fridge for food but didn't see anything. This is why I think having a girlfriend would be beneficial. A woman who loves you never lets you starve. I'm not saying a woman's job is to cook for her man, but it would be nice to have some hlep around here.

I grabbed my phone and dialed Crystal's phone number. It rang a few times before she answered.

"Hey what's up?" She said tiredly.

"Did I wake you up? I'm sorry." I say shaking my head.

"No it's okay. I need to get up anyways. I've been sleep all day."

"You didn't go to work?" I ask her.

She chuckled, "Hell no. I woke up and started throwing up again." she said shaking her head. "I don't know what bug this is I got but I wish it would leave." She said.

I scratch my head and sigh loudly. "Crystal..." I call out.

"What?" She said. "I know I need to stop calling out of work-"

"No not that." I say cutting her off. "Maybe, um, you should take a test." I suggest.

"I took a COVID test already." She said.

"Not a COVID test, a pregnancy test." I tell her.

"Devale I'm not pregnant." Crystal said before clearing her throat. "Well I don't think I am..." She said a little softer.

"Hey don't worry about it. Maybe it is the flu." I said trying not to worry her.

"I don't know, I have been sick for a few weeks now. That's unusual." She said. "I rarely ever get sick." She told me. "Devale what if I'm pregnant?" She asked sounding down.

"Don't worry about it. I'll be over there in a little bit. We can talk about it together." I say smiling a little bit.

Crystal blew air out her mouth. "Okay.. Okay..." She whispered. "See ya soon." She said.

"Alright bye." I said before hanging up.

I thought Crystal was pregnant the second time she had the "flu" but now that it's happened again, I'm sure she's pregnant. She knows it too but she's in disbelief. I don't know what I'd do with another baby. Crystal and I are kind of on two different paths. Plus, Crystal is focused on her career right now and I'm sure she doesn't want a baby. But, if she did want to keep it I'd be okay with that too. I'd actually love that.
