His hand was still stretched out waiting for a reply while I continued to decide if he was crazy or not.
He looked serious about his proposal and honestly it might be helpful if I had a little help. I bit my lip still undecisive before giving in and shaking his hand.
A bright smile was on his face when I finally agreed.
'Now that that's all settled, why don't you want a partner?', he asked after withdrawing his hand.
'Well I don't want one because it's embarrassing', I said avoiding his gaze.
'It's embarrassing to have a partner?', he said clearly confused. 'I think you'll have to elaborate.'
'I don't know what to do for the presentation', I mumbled under my breath hoping he wouldn't hear me. Clearly, the odds were against me.
''Really?', he asked.
'I was raised to be nothing but perfect ever since I was born and because of that I'm good at everything. Now, when I think of the future there are a lot of things I could do but I have no idea what I want', I explained.
'Oh, okay then', he said. I finally looked up and saw him shrug indifferently.
'Okay then?', I repeated, 'What does that mean?'
'That's why it would be better to work in pairs. I'll help you make your choice by the end of the school year. Then we can bring both of our thoughts together and make an awesome presentation', he said sounding so optimistic with a huge smile never leaving his face.
'That's... I never thought of it like that. That's nice of you but why would you help me?', I said.
'That's what are friends are for', he answered. I smiled at this, able to actually call someone my friend. Mark's the only one I feel was close to being my friend but that's kind of unstable.
After the conversation, we made our way to our classes and I totally forgot the other part pf the deal.
Lunch came quickly.
I was contemplating on where to sit when I saw Jason alone on a table. I made my way to him while looking for the team.
The only reason they weren't here was either because they got in a fight or it had to do with girls.
'Hey', I said taking my seat opposite Jason. 'Hey, what's up?', he said looking up from his phone.
'Nothing much. Why are you alone?', I asked. 'Well I wouldn't say I'm alone now', he mused putting his phone in his pocket.
'Funny', I said as I started eating. 'Why aren't you sitting with the other cheerleaders? Aren't you the head cheerleader?', he suddenly asked.
I stopped eating and looked at him like he was an alien, then I realized he was new so he was kind of an alien.
'I'm technically the leader of everything. Therefore, I sit wherever I want', I answered.
'How is that even possible?/', he asked.
I shrugged saying, 'That's just how it is.'
'That must be hard to manage though', he said.
'Not really. Let's just say I have a system but I mainly focus on football', I said.
We continued eating and after a while the team walked into the cafeteria attracting the gaze of everyone.
The girls tried catching their attentions, winking, smiling flirtatiously or waving while they passed. Some of them acknowledged them making them blush.
