The days leading up to Halloween were amazing, especially with all the volunteering which was way more fun than I thought it would be and I have Jason to thank for that.
Another great factor was Crystal's constant disappearance but even when she was around, Jason helped with my comebacks.
I woke up Friday morning feeling... well normal. I mean it was just Halloween but it was also my 18th birthday.
I should've been bursting with joy and excitement but one look at my blank phone told me either no one remembered or they were all still asleep.
I got ready for school and took a quick look at my phone as I headed downstairs for breakfast, 'Still nothing', I muttered.
'Happy birthday Sophie!!!', a voice screamed from the bottom of the stairs which made me trip but luckily I caught myself just in time.
'Oh my... Grace don't do that', I said breathless, a hand on my chest to try and control my heart rate.
'Sorry dear. It's just such a big day, I wanted to surprise you a bit', she said and it was then I noticed the cake in her hands.
'I guess we're having cake for breakfast then?', I laughed as I moved to help her place the cake on the counter and that's when I saw what was written on it.
'Legally bad ass?', I laughed.
'I was trying to be trendy' she said defensively, 'Happy birthday seemed to cliche'.
'It's perfect. A little too much though'.
'You deserve it. Now let's light a candle so you can make a wish', she said getting a lighter and a camera.
I blew out the candle while Grace kept taking picture after picture and I almost had to fight her off to let me go to school.
In the spirit of Halloween, I wore a black cargo and a sleeveless turtle neck top. I pulled my hair into a tight ponytail and took some time to dye the tip a bright orange.
When I got to my locker the guys were already there and Ash was the first to notice me, 'Looking good Sophie'.
'You really know how to get into the holiday spirit' Ty said.
'Nice hair', Jason commented.
'Thanks guys. Anyway, how's the prank going Ash? Anything I need to worry about?' I said trying to act nonchalant about them not mentioning anything about my birthday
'When the time is right, you will be notified', Ash said ominously as he backed away from the group with a sly smirk.
'That wasn't weird at all', I said staring at his retreating figure.

I was in chemistry class with Jason when he asked to go to the bathroom. That was practically a lifetime ago and he's still not back.
Just when I started thinking of impossible scenarios that could have kept him in the bathroom, I got a text from him saying "Use the umbrella beside my chair".
Beside his chair, there was indeed an umbrella and I was about to text back asking why I needed it when the fire alarms suddenly went off. 'Is this a drill?', someone asked.
Remembering Ash's prank, I grabbed the umbrella as students started to flood the hallways. I immediately opened it ignoring the curious looks from people.
The alarm suddenly stopped and the sprinklers were immediately activated releasing an orange colored liquid.
Screams came from every direction and some tried to escape into the class but the sprinklers were activated everywhere.
