After the game, we all headed to the after party to celebrate the teams win and since there's no school tomorrow... I think we all know what's going to happen.
The party only just started and some people already looked like they were about to pass out.
I had already changed out of my cheerleading outfit into a pink cold shoulder sweater and black shorts.
I spotted the team at the bar and instantly made my way to them. As I got closer I could hear some of their conversations, they mostly about the game as they hollered and drank.
'Congrats guys. Looks like training with me actually paid off', I said when I was close enough for them to hear me.
They all swiveled their heads in my direction each giving me a form of greeting, some nods, some two fingered salutes and others just gave me a high five.
'Of course we can't forget the real star of the match', Mark said as he put his arm round my shoulder while the rest of them cheered.
'You flatter me guys', I said as I grabbed myself a drink, Mark still in tow.
'Yeah but I don't think it would be wise to go around saying we first got our ass kicked by the head cheerleader before we were ready for the game', Axel said.
'Don't worry about that Axel, the embarrassment only last so long', I said with a cheeky smile.
'And what's this about we? I remember you clearly falling on your ass anytime you tried to tackle her', Devan said as the team burst into laughter.
'Now boys cut Alex some slack besides the main point here is that I'm the best. Period.', I said.
'I guess we can't argue with that', Mark said chuckling as they slowly went back to their previous conversation.
They started talking about the last touchdown when something or rather someone came to mind. 'Speaking of touchdowns, where's the man of the match, too popular to be seen with us now or what?', I said interrupting their conversation.
'He's around here somewhere said he needed to talk to someone', Mark answered.
'Well I'm going to go look for him, hope he's popularity isn't keeping him too busy for him to celebrate with the team', I said as I dropped my unfinished drink on the counter and made my way into the crowd of horny teenagers.
'You're making me sound like second best here', Mark whined as he watched my departing figure.
I turned back slightly saying, 'You should be used to it by now, after all I've always been here'.
I could hear his laughter as I turned back continuing my search.
I walked around the house asking people who weren't completely drunk if they had seen Jason. I spent over 15 minutes doing that and still no sign of Jason.
Either I must have been so focused on looking for Jason or the crowd was getting even more chaotic because I ended up bumping into someone.
I regained my balance as a hand reached out to steady me. 'Are you okay?', a voice called.
'Yeah sorry', I said as I looked up to see a boy with tan skin, dark brown hair and green eyes.
'No problem. Nice too meet you, I'm Asher', he said extending his hands with a smile on his face.
I shook his hands and introduced myself, 'Nice to meet you too, I'm Sophia. I reckon you're not from around here I've never seen you before'.
'Yeah, I just came to town. Think you'll be able to show me around sometime?', he said.
'We'll see', I answered as he gave me a knowing look before leaving saying, 'Fair enough, see you later I guess'.
I turned around to continue my search but instead came face to face with just the guy I was looking for.
He was standing directly behind me and when he caught my gaze he jumped a little before speaking.
'Hey', he said cautiously like he was talking to someone on the verge of hitting him
'Hi... Is everything okay?', I asked a bit worried.
'Yeah, well it's just... I'm not sure if you've actually forgiven me. We haven't really talked for days now and I don't want to make you have a reason too be more angry but I kind of miss talking to you and I'm really sorry for what I said', he said wincing.
'There's no need to be cautious around me. I'm really sorry for not talking to you. You're question just kind of threw me off, I really didn't mean to avoid you', I said guilt laced in every word.
'It's okay, I probably should've just kept my mouth shut', he said shrugging.
'No, it wasn't your fault, I was just... You know what, let's forget about that. How does it feel to be the start of the match? That touchdown was amazing. Even Mark's jealous', I said whispering the last part.
His mood instantly brightened as he started talking non stop about his touchdown as we slowly headed towards the beer pong table were the team had gathered.
We stopped midway as Jason went to get us some drinks. I was waiting for him when someone bumped into me.
Seriously, again? I thought as I looked up to see a guy with blonde hair and blue eyes glaring at someone behind me.
I looked back but saw no one then focused back on him when I heard him speak, 'Sorry about that'.
'It's alright. Are you new here, don't think I've seen you before?', I said.
'Yeah actually. My name's Tyler, it's nice too meet you', he said.
'Sophia. Nice to meet you too', I said with a smile.
He gave a small awkward smile then he scratched the back of his head before saying, 'Well then... Bye' and just like that he was gone.
'Well okay then', I said to no one in particular.
After a while Jason returned with our drinks. 'What's wrong?', he asked.
'Something weird just happened to me', I answered as I collected my drink from him.
'Weird like peanut butter on pizza or weird like I'm a magical princess from another universe', he said with a straight face.
'Wait what?', I said looking at him like he grew a tail.
'Nevermind. so what happened?', he asked/
I shook my head saying, 'Sometimes I wonder what goes on in that head of yours'.
'You'd be surprised', he said.
'Anyway, a guy introduced himself to me', I said
'And that's weird why?', he said confused.
'That's the second time this night and in the exact same way', I said.
'Coincidence?'
'I hope so'
Soon, we rejoined the team and Jason joined them to play just as I got a text from coach. After reading it I looked up and caught Mark's gaze.
He must've also gotten the text as he gave me a nod before announcing to the team, 'No practice on Monday guys!'
The place was immediately filled with cheers as I sent Mark a look.
He gave me a thumbs up telling me he got the whole message from coach.
