'And I win again', I exclaimed proudly after the 24th win in a row.
'How is that even possible? The controller must be broken or something', he said examining the controller in his hand.
'That's what you said last time. Plus, we exchanged controllers, remember?', I said while eating some chips Jason brought after our 5th match. 'Just accept defeat, it will save you more embarrassment.'
'Whatever', he said looking at the clock. 'It's almost 10. How are you going to get home?'
'You could drive me', I said pointedly.
'I can't drive at night', he said.
'I literally remember you driving your sister to the hospital around midnight', I said.
'That was an emergency', he said defensively, 'I'm not supposed to drive at night.'
'Fine, just give me your car keys, I'll return it in the morning', I said stretching out my hand.
'Do you even know your way back?', he asked.
'Obviously. I memorized the town map when I was twelve', I answered.
He looked at me like I had grown a second head. 'What', I asked.
'You memorized the whole map when you were twelve?! How does someone even do that?', he said.
I just shrugged now feeling a bit self conscious. He must have notice my change in demeanor because he added, 'I mean it's just not usual for a twelve year old to memorize an entire map. I mean, I'm not saying you're not normal just...'
He didn't know what else to say but he didn't need to because I suddenly started laughing uncontrollably until it started to hurt.
He looked so embarrassed that I could definitely see the tint of pink on his face.
'I'm sorry....', I said wheezing, 'Just... the keys?'
'If you go with the car, I won't be able to drop Angel in school tomorrow', he said.
'I'll come early', I argued before he said, 'Why don't you just stay here for tonight?'
'So now you're just looking for an excuse for me to stay over? No way. Keys', I said stretching out my hand.
'Fine', he breathed as he brought his keys and handed it over.
'Thank you. I'll be here at exactly 7:30am. Don't be late', I said walking out of the house.
I get into the driver's seat and started the ignition getting ready to go.
I looked at Jason's front door to find him standing there watching me as I left with his car.
I rolled down the window before saying, 'Don't worry, I'm not stealing your car.'
He smiled saying, 'You better not cause I know where you live if you do.'
'You forgot I know karate', I said, a wide smile on my face.
''How could I forget? I was planning on coming with a full armor, maybe even a shield', he said.
I couldn't hold in the laughter that escaped my lips after that, Jason not wasting any second as he joined in.
After our fits of laughter, I drove away waving to Jason saying, 'See you tomorrow and say goodnight to Angel for me.'
~~~~~~~~Jason's POV~~~~~~~~~
It was 7:29am and Angel and I were standing at our porch steps. We did everything we needed to do early and we had officially been standing here for two minutes, just in case.
