Danganronpa: Despair to Prodigy's

Investigation

(Ayanokoji POV)

"AH...AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Bell screamed as the reality of the situation set in.

Kyoko and I had anticipated a murder though, and the smart people in the group here would have as well. 

I had also opened the Monokuma file and it read as follows.

Naruto Uzumaki, The Ultimate Ninja. Died of strangulation, time of death ???. 

It was short but it also provided a hint, that the time of death was important if it were hidden.

"Shinobu if you would," Kyoko said as she turned to Shinobu.

Shinobu was shocked but she nodded her head as she approached the body.

While she did that I looked around the classroom, there was no sign of a struggle. It looked as if he just died. Nothing more, almost like there was no murder here in the first place

"I'm heading out," I told Kyoko "Tell me the report later,"

Kyoko and I had a system we made. We would switch between one staying with the group while the other would go exploring for clues. That was where I was yesterday when Horikita made her announcement to get everyone together. 

I figured she would have made a meeting after seeing the motive videos but I wanted no part in it.

After I opened my video, it just said as follows.

"UNFORTUNITLY AYANOKOJI KIYOTAKA HAS NO ONE IMPORTANT TO HIM,"

Kyoko's was a video of her grandfather dying. She claimed though that her grandpa was too smart to be caught in a trap in such little time.

"Alright," Kyoko readily agreed, and I left despite everyone's shock.

I then felt a hand on my shoulder as I was going to leave, I turned around to see Emilia.

"Can't you even stay for a little bit? Or...I don't know, show you feel a little bad?"

Kyoko looked the same as I did. So did Cid, and Makima. I guess she was singling me out since I was leaving right away.

"I am sorry about this but we don't have all the time in the world. Wasting time wouldn't do any good,"

I was going to leave again when Shinobu spoke up.

"I'm done. He died of strangulation, just like the Monokuma file said,"

"Ok, Kyoko. I leave it to you here," I said as I left the room without interference. I felt everyone's gazes on my back as I left.

I went into the hallway and went all the way to Naruto's room. I opened the door and was met with a room with no light, but despite it being so dark I could see perfectly fine.

I turned on the light anyway though, and just like I had thought, this was where the murder had taken place.

If one were to die of strangulation, then without a doubt there was some resistance. 

The room was a complete mess and there were ninja Shurikans on the wall. I wonder how he got those...

 Then Monokuma appeared behind me.

"Don't worry, I'm not giving any special treatment. I just decided to give people some weapons that would help out. Everyone got one and you should have one as well,"

"...And you didn't tell us? I imagine more people would kill if you did,"

"That's because...If everyone knew then it could turn into a free for all! And we don't want that! We want to have you guys struggle to your last breaths!"

He left right after that. 

'...So there is a "We,'"

Looks like the possibility of this being broadcasted or at least other people being involved has increased highly. There's also the chance of him lying about that but who can say for now?

Then the door opened again into the room, and in came Kyoko, Makima, Subaru, and Emilia.

"There was nothing else there," Kyoko said as she as well examined the room.

"...You guys really are completely fine in this situation? Your trust in each other must be amazing," Emilia said with a slight smile trying to cover up the shock after seeing a dead companion

Kyoko and I didn't respond but we both were thinking the same thing. It was something that only very keen people would be able to tell and that was that we didn't trust each other in the slightest.

In fact, I would say I trust Kyoko the least out of everyone here. We both don't have any memories so the chance of one of us knowing something about our situation is high, and of course, I don't think it's me, but I can't say with certainty. The same is true for Kyoko.

We both don't trust each other or ourselves, but we keep each other close for two reasons. 1, to keep an eye on each other to make sure we don't start making any sudden moves. 2, we're both smart, so working together would be more beneficial than not just because we don't trust each other.

"OH MY GOD!" Subaru yelled as he entered the bathroom, everyone quickly followed behind him with me, and Kyoko being furthest in front and Emilia and Makima behind us.

Everyone was silent. There was a rope tied in a noose. 

"Was it suicide?" Subaru asked 

"...I doubt it," Kyoko said "But even if it was the fact still remains his body was moved. Monokuma wouldn't move it so it was one of us,"

Me, Kyoko, Makima, and Subaru all entered the bathroom despite it being super cramped. We looked around and didn't see anything else that stood out.

We left the bathroom and went back to the bedroom when I noticed something. I turned to take one last look at the bathroom since I saw everything in the bedroom and a single strand of hair stood out. A single silver strand. I guess we may have missed it since so many people were gathered in there.

"..."

I said nothing as I walked over and picked it up, Kyoko seemed to have noticed as well but didn't say anything just yet. This hair could only belong to Emilia. I quickly set it back down.

I had only picked it up for 2 seconds but one other person had also seen it.

"Was that Emilia's hair?" 

Makima bent over as she looked on top of the strand. She was a lot more observant than I thought.

"Wait what?!" Subaru yelled as he ran over "O-Oh I see, it likely just fell out while she was over here,"

"Then how did it get in the bathroom? She was only by the doorframe," Makima asked again

"...I...I don't know," Emilia who noticed the gathering quickly ran over only to be in shock "I-I never went in there...I promise I never did!"

"I believe you!" Subaru said confidently "Guys! I know this looks bad but I'm telling you there's no way she could have done it!"

Then an announcement rang.

"THAT WILL BE ALL FOR INVESTIGATING! EVERYONE, PLEASE COME TO THE CHECKERED COLOR DOOR ON THE FIRST FLOOR! FOR THE FIRST CLASS TRIAL!"

Everyone in the bedroom left. I figured the others on Kyoko's and likely Horikita's suggestion looked around other places just in case there were extra clues.

Kyoko and I exchanged a glance, we had noticed another detail we kept hidden. Deciding to keep it a secret until the class trail we walked to the checkered doors.

Now, we start our first class trial.
