Hello loves, this is the result of my maladaptive daydreaming put into... a lot of words.
Chapters 1-9 are pre-Avatar and Chapter 10 starts The Way of Water. I hope you enjoy ♥
Chapters 1-9 give a lot of backstory, but they're not necessary to read if you don't want. Start with chapter 10 if you'd like to be more surprised, and probably a little confused. But if that's your thing, you do you.
I'd also like to add that any autistic characteristics displayed are based on my own personal experiences with autism. Ya bitch got that neuro SPICY.
So... there might be a lot of stuff that has more detail than it really 'needs' to have but... I felt like it needed it? That said I hope you like the story, it's gonna be a long one.Also... you might be able to consider this a slowburn? Kind of? Chapter 2, 4, and 5 have smut. And then there's basically NOTHING until chapter 25. Then it gets HELLA spicy. So... Take that as you will.

Dr. Grace Augustine cursed under her breath as she neared entered the Avatar compound. The exopack was slung over a hook and left carelessly, as if it was the source of her ire. She took a moment to take in a breath and calm down, a heavy sigh left her. Nope, still pissed. Just one thing after another.
First, two of the Avatar drivers somehow managed to damage their Avatars and it would take a few weeks to get them back to full health. Second, Parker Selfridge, the self-serving, egotistical, narcissistic manchild who was the head administrator of the RDA on Pandora and authority over the Avatar program, decided it was time to bitch.
At this point, Grace wasn't even sure what he was complaining about, it was always the same thing. Profits, blue monkeys getting in the way, how easily he could remove her from her position. Same thing, just something else of hers to target when he was mad. She stopped listening to him years ago, but the sound of his voice was enough to vex her.
The main lab doors burst open as she enters the lab, startling a few of the other scientists but they knew better than to intervene. A few of them side-eyed each other, silently telling the other one to talk to her, ultimately none of them made the effort and she moved on. Getting closer to her area of the lab, or where she had her desk, she pulled up her datapad and angrily scrolled through it.
"One of these days, I'm going to pay you to punch him in the face." Grace called out to Tenera, one of the few people associated with the RDA she actually liked.
"Parker give you a hard time today?" Grace groaned and heard the clink of a mug hitting Tenera's metal desk. She was pleasantly surprised to know she was actually taking a break.
"Of course, profit oriented conceited bastard." Ten laughed softly and then spoke again, but not to Grace.
"Yes, okay. Can I not set it down to talk to my other boss?" The scraping of the mug sliding across the desk apparently answered that question. Wait. Other boss? He better not be in here.
"What the hell is Ranger Rick doing in my lab?" Grace fumed, datapad gripped tightly by her whitening fingers as she finally turned into the supposedly off-limits area to military goons. Looks like she found whatever the others were going to tell her before they realized how pissed she was.
"Bringing a much needed pick-me-up to one of my subordinates." Colonel Miles Quaritch gestured to the mug in the young woman's hands as he leaned against the desk, sipping his own with a smug smile. She narrowly resisted her eyes rolling up into the back of her head.
