This was possibly one of the dumbest and most self-sabotaging things she'd ever thought of.

It didn't start like this.

Ten thought that maybe, just maybe, her datapad would do something else once they were on the island. Considering that it sent out a transmission after picking up on the interference while they were in flight, that seemed really likely.

Wrong.

She thought wrong, as it did nothing extra.

The interference Prager had described was completely absent. Which, to be fair, she figured would be the case once they were physically on the island. However, she'd also been expecting to see some type of building here.

Or a landing pad.

Or literally anything that appeared to be unnatural.

But there was nothing here. Just an island. Only the island.

Now, was it an island that was quite literally perfect?

Yes.

It had everything she deemed necessary for their survival, whether Recombinant or human.

Dense forests and a variety of food-bearing plants; not including ones that could be used for medicinal purposes, as Ja's stolen supplies wouldn't last forever. A massive, intricate labyrinth of a cave system that, while daunting to navigate at first, would offer them coverage not found in anything they could build.

Optimal weather patterns, multiple fresh water sources, including a waterfall on the far west side, an abundance of local wildlife on land, and easy access to fish.

And with the damn thing being completely off the RDA's radar, safety. This also wasn't an area any of the sea-based tribes frequented. Their own homes provided what they needed, and the migratory paths of the Tulkun didn't come up into this territory.

They weren't near any of the Ash clan villages, nor were they close to any of the Metkayina or Ta'unui. It was almost a happy middle ground. Safe-ish in an area between the clans, as the Ash clan didn't travel south, and likewise, the Ocean clans didn't come to the north. It was completely safe.

Which means it would be the perfect spot for an RDA base.

So where the fuck was it?!

She'd been utilizing the RDA's database in the hopes of finding something related to this place. Looking for similar blueprints, trying to find something that even mildly resembled the one in that folder. But the damn thing was irritably small in comparison to any of the other RDA facilities she'd seen. Almost as if it was simply a failed endeavor.

One they'd abandoned.

Alright, that might lead to something. All RDA projects were logged. She'd gone through plenty of files within the database at Hells Gate before they were forced to desert it and leave the remains to the RDA.

However, there weren't any listed failed projects that detailed an abandoned island. Or anything that was even close to this place. But it wasn't a worthless effort, she'd figured out something.
