0405 Colonel Quaritch had finally managed to round up the very tired remainder of his team for a very early workout. They pissed him off yesterday and were up very late last night, he knew this would be the best punishment for them. They hated getting up this early, well all except Mansk and the ever emotionally impassive Rae'ell.
But neither of them pissed him off, Mansk was essentially here to witness them suffer, he was usually already up around this time anyway and Rae'ell wasn't in her quarters. As they reached the doors to the large workout area, they heard the sounds of someone sparring. Really early for that, but alright, he's not judging. Sometimes you just need to beat the shit out of something or someone.
He pushes open the doors, walks forward until the sparring mat is within vision and freezes. The zombified shuffles of his exhausted team halted as their eyes fell upon the same thing. Rae'ell, the damn near emotionless Pandoran expert the general forced on his specialized team, was currently sparring with a marine twice her size, smirking.
Wait... Smirking? He had been livid when the General ordered her onto his team. He had no use for a 25 year old 'scientist,' with a personality to rival that of a very lively brick wall.
But, over time her combat skills showed. When he finally ordered her to join the team for training, sparring, anything that would make her do something besides just exist, he saw it. Trained precision. She took hits but for the most part, she expertly defended and dodged them. As it turns out, she was actually an RDA mercenary. Highly skilled and well trained for almost her entire life, raised or adopted by the General on Pandora. Either way, she was essentially emotionless, Mansk showed more emotion than her and that was saying something.
Quaritch was actually taken aback on how different she looked from her usual self. Even when she worked out, her body was usually covered, granted the compression clothes were at least practical in workout recovery. But right now? She was in tight fitting workout shorts, fingerless gloves he assumed helped with grip, and a sports bra.
He had no idea her tattoos were so extensive, he'd seen them peeking through her clothes but didn't realize they were actual sleeves. They swept up her shoulders down her back before curling in at her waist and dipping below her waistband. Looked like they extended down to her thighs.
The rest of the team was also blatantly staring at her, completely captivated by what they were witnessing. It was a complete 180 from what they knew about her. They winced at the punch she just took to the ribs and then stared in awe as she took the opportunity to grab hold of his arm, swing him around, and slam him down onto the mat. Before he could get back up, she was on him. Knee digging into his lower back, one arm pressing his head down into the mat and the other wrenching one of his arms behind him painfully.
"Yield, David." He grunted and struggled against the hold. Her eyes rolled back in irritation and she tugged the arm up further, stretching it much further than his muscles could handle. He yelled out in pain. "Yield, or I break it. At the very least I'll tear a muscle. Might do more if you keep pissing me off." When he didn't respond she twisted it roughly and he gave in.
"Alright. Alright! I yield you crazy bitch." She smirked and shoved his head down into the mat before raising up and standing over him as he rolled over.
"You're the one who kept pestering me about going out on a date, I believe I've made my answer incredibly clear." She turned around in the opposite direction of her team who continued to gawk in disbelief and walked back over to her gear. Wiping down her arms she tried to put the compression clothes back on to return to her workout before Mansk got here.
David however, was now livid. Not only did she literally knock the shit out of him, but everyone in the area witnessed it. He got up and barged over to her, fists clenched and ready. Quaritch was about to intervene when one of the early morning regulars called out to her.
