With all my strength I got up again and pointed at the guard who had shot me. I closed one eyes and pulled the trigger before I fell on the ground again. My balance didn't really help me. An awful yell sounded through the air, aswell as loads of gunshots and the sound of dead bodies collapsing onto the ground. I wanted to cry because of the damage I had made, but I couldn't. I had to make sure Joe and Alfie were safe. I crawled to the fence and looked to another guard. He was about to shoot a little kid, but I was faster. I shot the guard before I grabbed to fence to get up. Footsteps came closer in a second, and Joe immediately stood in front of me. ''I'll meet you on the outside.'' He said and waited for me to give a sign that I was alright. I nodded and slowly saunter to the building. I went straight off to the main door, where most of the girls were going for. A small amount of boys and girls were running for the front door while I hobbled behind them.
We got out of the fences and stood on the grass, looking at the amount of death bodies laying on the stone floor. ''Deanne, are you alright?'' I heard both Alfie and Joe walk over to me. They sounded concerned but I nodded. ''Will be fine.'' I said and looked to the people who survived the mess. ''Where's Zoe?'' I said concerned and looked around. ''Zoe?'' Joe said. His brain definitely recognized that name. ''Yes. Small girl, brown hair, really friendly. I need to get back to get her-'' I began but Alfie cut me off. ''You are not going anywhere with that leg. I'll search for her.'' He said and took over the gun without even asking for permission. He ran back into the building, leaving me and Joe behind.
Joe wanted to go look for this Zoe aswell, but something inside of him didn't let him. ''Who's Zoe?'' I asked Joe and figured it might have been his girlfriend. ''It's my sister.'' Joe whispered. ''Your sister...'' I whispered frustrated. ''Come on, go search for her. I'm not stopping you from finding your sibling.'' I told Joe, trying to encourage him but he shook his head. ''If she's still alive, Alfie will find her. I need to help you with your leg.'' Joe disagreed and got on a knee. With the knife I had given him, he cuts of a piece of my jeans to see the wound. ''You're lucky, the bullet went straight through.'' He said but it didn't sound that good to be honest. ''I'll be alright, Joe.'' I told him again, trying to calm him down. ''I'm happy Alfie told us to make a secret language. We wouldn't have survived without that.'' Joe told me and sat down next to me. We looked at the Camp KIDE. ''I sliced my brother into pieces. I ate my blooming own brother.'' I realized just now. Joe clearly didn't expect for me to say that. ''You have a brother?'' It didn't really sound like a question. ''I had a brother. Before I bloody ate him! How could I-'' I began freaking out but I immediately fell two warm arms around me. ''It's okay.'' I heard Joe whisper against my neck. I immediately calmed down and we stayed in the hug for a couple of seconds before we heard a massive explosion. A huge fireball came out of the building and in seconds pieces of metal were flying everywhere. ''But Alfie and Zoe!'' I screamed to Joe, trying to be louder than the fire. Joe looked to the building and I looked along with him. ''There!'' He screamed and ran to Alfie and Zoe to help them get out of there. Zoe was hurt aswell. She couldn't walk so Alfie had to carry her. It took a couple of minutes before the three caught up with me. I looked to the almost foreign people around me. ''We should carry on as a group.'' I suggested and immediately most of the people agreed. West was where we were going, trying to find some place to stay because surely this wasn't the right place. I looked at the group of people.
We now were with 8 people total. Besides Zoe, Alfie, Joe and I there were Jim, Marcus, Tanya and Will. We were all around the same age, which was a good thing in my opinion.
We walked for hours to the West and saw the sun setting but we didn't stop walking. We needed to find a place to stay. No one talked, maybe it was because we didn't want to attract any Walkers but at the same time we were all thinking about everything and nothing. I felt absolutely exhausted, and my leg was killing me aswell. Joe was really helpful by helping me walk. He had been walking besides Zoe for the first few hours and I could tell they were happy to see each other again. We found a street when it was midnight. I guess we arrived at a little village because there were some cute cafes and restaurants. We all felt relieved and looked at the untouched one. It was a small café and by the looks through the windows it had some couches to sleep on. With some help of Mister Knife I opened the door and walked in. Joe already knew I had to clear the area first, but because of my leg he insisted on doing it himself. I waited with Jim and Tanya outside. They were a cute couple, and they looked so strong. ''Everything's clear.'' Joe said as he dragged me in and he leaded my to a couch. ''Madame.'' He said and I saw a little pillow on the end of the couch. ''Why thank you.'' I said in with a rich accent and got down on the couch. I immediately closed my eyes. Just when Joe was about to walk away, I stopped him by grabbing his hand. ''Where are you going to sleep?'' I asked him with a grin on my face. ''You need the couch for your leg.'' Joe insisted but I disagreed taking the whole couch for myself. ''We've done this before. Come on, I'm tired.'' I joked and tapped on the couch. Joe chuckled and laid down just behind me. At the moment I closed my eyes, I felt his strong arms embracing me.
