When I opened my eyes, the next day, I immediately felt Joe's lips on the skin of my neck. He was still sleeping and softly breathed through the little gap between his lips. For a second it felt like something was tickling me, but it was my stomach. Butterflies, something I hadn't had for ages. Did I actually like Joe? This wasn't the right time to fall in love. There are much more important things to think about, like surviving. Just one boy can't keep me off of track.

With a moan, Joe woke up several minutes later. ''Good morning.'' I whispered to Joe, but he didn't reply. Instead he tightened his arms around me and pulled me closer to him. That's the position we laid in for more minutes before Alfie ran into the room. ''Guys, we found some- Aw, look how cute you two are!'' He said and smiled. Something was different about him today, but I couldn't put my finger on it. ''Come on, Joe. They need our help.'' I said, trying to get Joe off of me. Of course I'd be fine if I had to lay all day like this, but this wasn't a fantasy. ''No.'' Joe yawned and didn't release. ''Yes.'' I replied and tried escape but he was definitely too strong. ''I'm not letting you go.'' He said with his morning voice, still sleepy. With a soft chuckle I turned around to face Joe. His hair covered half of his face. His eyes were shut and his lips were apart from each other. He looked so cute and I just couldn't help but stare at his sleepy face. ''Guys, come on!'' Alfie was still standing in the door, and I immediately got red cheeks.

After some more minutes, Joe finally let go of me. We got up and walked downstairs, where the rest was waiting for us. ''Morning.'' I said to the little group of ours and I immediately got a few responses. ''We found another paper.'' Marcus said as he handled over a plastic map. When I opened it, I immediately read in fat letters ''to Charlie Jefferson, from your daddy''. My mouth shut again and I looked at the others. ''We should take this, just in case we ever see this Charlie.'' I told the others but only half of them agreed. ''He's probably dead by now.'' Jim disagreed and I noticed Alfie was with him. ''If he's still alive, he deserves to read this.'' I said and looked at Joe who was listening carefully. ''We should bring it with us, but we should read it because it might contain important information.'' He said after thinking a while. ''Sure, can't do any harm.'' Marcus said and grabbed the paper out of my hand to continue reading it out loud. Before he began, I walked outside of the room. Something inside me told me not to listen to what's in the letter. It was meant for Charlie, only for Charlie.

After walking up the stairs, I sat on the bed and looked to the outside. Early morning was looking beautiful, the sun was still raising even though it felt like it was almost afternoon. ''Are you alright there?'' A voice just behind me said. At first I thought it was Joe, but it didn't sound like him. I turned around to see Zoe. She smiled friendly and sat down right besides me. ''Yeah, it's okay. I just don't feel so strong about reading a letter that was meant for someone else. Maybe it had memories in it, or secrets.'' I said softly, almost whispering. Zoe giggled and agreed with me. ''If it really has something important in it, the others will tell us.'' She said and looked with me to the outside. ''Thanks for keeping Joe alive.'' She mentioned after a while and when I looked right in her eyes I noticed some tears. ''Joe and I are best friends and siblings at the same time. He told me that you saved him. I owe you big time.'' She smiled and wiped away some tears from her red cheeks. ''It's nothing big. I just did the right thing.'' We got silent for some more minutes, but it wasn't awkward at all. ''Do you like my brother, Deanne?'' She now whispered as she kept staring at me in the eyes. I automatically looked down to my hands and I rubbed them together. I tried to answer the same question this morning, but I wasn't sure about the answer. ''I can't fall in love right now, can I? The world is a bloody mess and a relationship isn't important at all.'' Maybe I started to freak out a bit, but I was being honest about my opinion. ''Do you like him, Deanne?'' Zoe repeated, totally ignoring my stress. ''I might or might not. It's hard to find out if you like someone, if he's the only person you have. Of course I have certain feelings for him but maybe that's just because he was the only one that was with me.'' I started talking really fast, and soon Zoe shushed me down. ''Listen, I don't know you but I do know my brother. I've seen him looking at girls, but never the way he looks at you.'' Zoe smiled and waited for any response. ''Maybe he just sees me as a friend and maybe that's the reason why he looks at me like that.'' I said softly, afraid to hear what might be the truth. ''You don't look at friends like that, believe me.'' Zoe continued but I honestly wasn't really into such a talk right now. ''I'll think about it. If you don't mind, I'm going to use the bathroom.'' I knew I sounded annoyed, but I didn't really care. Of course, Zoe was only trying to help but I freaked out a bit.

After doing a number 2 in the bathroom, I went downstairs and grabbed a rug sack to take with me. ''Where are you going?'' Joe asked while he got up from the couch. ''I'm going for a run.'' I told him and was about to continue my walk to the outside. ''I'm going with you.'' He grabbed his few weapons and followed me to the outside.
