All these egoist people I had to deal with all day sometimes make me question my sanity until the end of the day. But then, my best friends really prove that they are insane and I will be too soon.
Hi people, I am Kaira Bhardwaj, and this is my beautifully messed up life.
"Kairaaaa." Aisha shouted in my ear, nearly giving me a heart attack.
"Woman, if you want to kill me, just stab a knife in me. Why are you trying to destroy the eardrums?" I asked, getting up from bed.
"O miss stab-me, you are gonna be late for office today because it's already 8:30 and you need to report at 10." She answered.
"Did Avi leave?" I asked before getting into the bathroom and banging my door shut.
"Yes." Aisha answered from outside.
So, for little insight, I, Aishu, and Avi live in a 3 bhk apartment, which is equidistant from all our workplaces. Avni is a data analyst and works with numbers and codes all the freaking time, but Aishu is total opposite, she is a psychologist, counseling psychologist to be specific and she spends most of her time with people and outside world.
Me, I land between the two of them, I need my laptop and phone to work for sure, and I, unfortunately, do interact with all kind of people. I work as a second secretary at Indian Embassy in the United Kingdom.
And, I think today I really am gonna be late. Fuck, why do Aisha have to this brutally honest sometimes.
"Don't you have work today?" I asked, keeping my things in my bag.
"First session at 12, so have time. I think the house could use a cleaning." She said, and I stopped to give her a look.
"Don't worry, I won't change the place of the items, just dusting and organizing a little." She said in mock surrender. Last time, me Avni almost fainted while searching for the lighter on Aishu's birthday, ultimately she came and retrieved it from the corner most drawer.
"Okay, bye." I said, stuffing the toast in my mouth and hastily hugging Aishu. I rushed out and went to Subway Station. Bayswater was the nearest to our home, and fortunately, I got the first tube out.
I avoided getting scolded by just milliseconds as my boss entered right after me.
Work was as usual, hectic and hard, but this particular client always gets on my nerves even when he is not present in physical form. His tone always seem some what different than the rest of the species.
Ishaan Malhotra, second generation millionaire, as I like to call him, Mr. Frustrating. He directly inherited a large chunk of the wealth from his grandfather after the poor man passed away. He is doing business with the embassy, mostly like funding campaigns and organizing events. He is rich, but he likes event planning, so that's why he is, most of the time stuck around here.
"Kaira, in my cabin now." My boss, the, the Ambassador ordered. She is a friendly lady, and I seriously admire her approach at everything.
"Yes, Ma'am." I responded, picked up my little diary, and entered the den. She sure is a lioness when it comes to work, but she is emotional too.
"I would like you to follow up with Mr. Malhotra for the upcoming Diwali festival, and what are his plans of doing events or anything." She said to me. I internally groaned.
"Shivam, I need you to check on the reports we have received from FBI and match them with the reports from India." She said to Shivaay, who was the first secretary and carried out these heavy tasks and communications between the countries along side with Ambassador.
I sighed, sitting at my chair, in my own small cabin.
"Do I really need to?" I said, as if I was talking to he phone sitting their on my desk.
I picked it up and called Mr. Irritating.
"Good morning, Mr. Malhotra. I was calling from the embassy to check about the Diwali festivities plan." I said in my work tone, absolutely plain and devoid of any emotion.
"Yes, Ms. Bhardwaj, I will be more than happy to walk you over the plans as soon as you tell me when you are free." He replied in his always jolly tone.
"Just email them to me, I will review and send the feedback." I replied.
"As you wish, Miss." He said and cut the call. Okay, that went well without any unnecessary arguments thrown my way or his way.
"Good work, Kaira." I patted myself.
But how come he didn't say anything absurd or teasing. He always does, majorly when he talks to me. Maybe something might be wrong, or he might be having a hard time, but one minute, why I am even thinking about him? Yikes brain, please search other topics instead of that doofus.
I get back to my wor, and oh god, I didn't even move till it was lunch until I received Aisha's message.
"Eat the lunc, or I will come and murder you." She texted, my sweet little mother hulk.
"Oka, madam." I replied with a salute emoji.
Well, today was uneventful, my boss was happy and no unnecessary drama happened except Shivam got too much work and was working overtime, to whom I made an evil face while leaving my cabin.
Don't get me wrong, I love my work very much, but working overtime, nahh, I would rather spend my evenings with Aisha babbling anything, and Avni challenging her now and then. Those two feel like home and warm cookies, my safe place.
"Heyy people." I said, unlocking the door and entering into our apartment.
"Hellooooo." Aisha replied from where she was sprawled across the whole couch.
"Where is Avni?" I asked, plopping down beside her while she constantly kicked me to get lost from her space.
"She has a date with Aman." She said, eating something.
"What you got there? I am famished." I said, peeking into her plate.
"Chocolate cookies, just out form oven, here." She said, forwarding the plate towards me.
"Wow, they are really good." I said, taking a bite, something I am extremely grateful for is Aisha's passion for cooking, but sometimes it turns out to be dangerous for human consumption.
"I know." Aisha replied sassily.
"For heaven's sake, change your clothes. My nose is filled with your strong perfume." Aisha said, pushing me away from her.
"Yeah, of course." I said, rolling my eyes and going inside to change.
