I was fuming with anger, but seeing Kaira this vulnerable did something to me. I felt like my heart broke each time another tear dropped from her eyes.
After she calmed down, we switched the topics, but my rage was faw away from disappearing. I need to do something to that Prateek Verma.
I dropped off Kaira, who was reluctant to leave my hand the whole time. She clung to me as if her life depended on it. Finally, she let go, and I kissed her forehead with the promise that I would never break her trust.
As soon as I was home, I dialed Aisha.
"Yes, bhai." She answered.
"Tell me more about Prateek Verma, I am damn sure you have already extracted his information." I said, fully knowing Aisha's hundred-miles-per-hour brain.
"Currently, he is running for the home minister of Bihar. He is here to sign some campaign statements with Indian firms in the UK that can support him or guarantee his win at least." She replied in a second. She is fast, I give her that, but then also, women are best known stalkers.
"Hmmm." I hummed.
"Ishaan Malhotra, tell me, what is going inside that tiny brain of yours?" She threatened.
"Just nothing, I will tell you eventually." I replied, not giving too much to her.
"Accha, tell me one thing, did she mention to you that she felt someone following her? She started feeling eerie after the day she met he, who must not be named. And today too, I saw three men eyeing our apartment, I saw them outside coffee shop Kaira usually go and I got curious and followed them, so I found out that they were indeed keeping an eye on Kaira, I saw her at the subway station, and they were at good distance, but still eyes on her." Aisha said.
"What?! I only know about the bouquet and note." I jumped up from the bed.
"Did you tell Kaira?" I asked again, pacing my room.
"Are you kidding me? She is so happy right now. Singing along to SRK's songs in her room, and trust me, when I say that is very, very rare." Aisha said.
"Okay, we need to get to action as soon as possible. This Prateek Verma is way too dangerous and unstable piece of shit." I replied.
"Whatever you plan, I am in. And, yeah, can we not disturb Avni and Aman, too? They have planned a romantic trip after their engagement, so yeah." She said.
"Okay, as you say, Kaira has already suffered enough, and I will damned if I let her go through all this again. I will kill myself, but not before killing that asshole." I retaliated.
Curse my life if I can't even protect the one I love. We wished each other goodnight, and I straight went to Bhai.
"Bhai, bhai, bhai." I said, knocking on his office door rapidly.
"Come in, Ishaan." he replied.
"Did someone named Prateek Verma come to you?" I asked, sitting down in front of him.
"Yes, he does have an appointment for tomorrow. What's going on?" He asked.
"Nothing, he is just an unstable piece of shit, who did some very bad things to Kaira in college days, and now also, he is doing all the uncoherent things. So here's the plan...." I started speaking.
"....so you take whatever he offers and get him sign some papers that I will send you." I finished.
"Remind me again. Why are you an event planner? You are fit to perform in Crime Petrol." Bhai said.
"You still watch that?" I asked, laughing at him. He used to watch it when we used to live in India.
"If I watch that now, your Bhabhi will murder me, and your body won't be found, and then Misha will be fatherless." He replied, chuckling.
"But seriously, Ishaan, be safe, you, Aisha, Kaira, everyone. He doesn't sound too sophisticated of a person. He can go lengths to make Kaira his, at least that's what it sounds like from tellings." Bhai said in a serious tone.
"Don't worry, brother, I won't let anything happen to anyone. But I can't let Kaira go. She is mine after years, and nothing or no one can snatch her now." I said with determination, and Bhai smirked at me.
"Okay, goodnight." I said, rolling my eyes.
"Whipped." He replied before I shut the door.
You have no idea, Bhai. How much whipped I am.
