I sat down beside Ishaan in the lobby. He was visibly tired.
"Hey, look at me." I said softly, making him look at me. There were tears shining in his eyes. I placed soft kisses on his eyes as he closed them.
"You are not anything that man says, okay? You are a very capable and handsone young man who runs his own event management company, which is one of the best in the whole city." I said. I know that man's words were still ringing in Ishaan's mind.
That man once used to be his father. Of course, the effect still lingers, and it might never go away, but it's fine. I am here, and as long as I am here, no one is touching my man.
"You think I am handsome?" Ishaan asked with a smile.
"Of all what I spoke, you got that?" I asked, chuckling.
"I am fine, Kaira. And if I am not, I will be with you by my side." He said, kissing my plams.
"Hmmm." I said.
"I don't really know the meaning of this, hmmm, so elaborate." He said laughing.
"I was just thinking something." I replied, leaning into his shoulder.
"What?" He asked, facing me.
"That man didn't abuse you physically, but the mental abuse that he gave you both is just insane. I mean, you and Bhaiya were just frozen in front of him." I said, looking ahead, not at him. Him not able to do anything in front of that bastard was like, I can't imagine what he and Bhaiya went through in their childhood.
"I completely understand if you don't want with a guy like me, who couldn't even fight for you or himself." He said.
"That's okay, I can fight for both of us." I replied, pecking his cheeks.
"How did I get so lucky?" He said with a sigh, and I chuckled. We were talking, and then I don't remember when I fell asleep on his shoulder, but I do remember Bhaiya coming out all excited and happy.
"It's a boy." He said, a wide grin settled on his face.
"Congratulations, bhai." Ishaan said, getting up. Bhaiya just pulled us both in a big hug and then went to call Aunty, I guess.
I, too, dropped a quick msg in the group, letting Avni and Aisha know about the birth. They are big baby lovers.
"Let's meet her." I said, dragging Ishaan inside with me.
"Heyy Bhabhi." I said, sitting beside her. She and I yawned at the same time and started laughing while Ishaan was looking at the baby in the cubicle with big doe eyes.
"Ishaan, come here." Bhabhi called him, and I got up and went to baby.
It is so small, so fragile, pure of any kind of toxicity of this world. It looked like he was an angel in previous life, direct descending from heaven.
I didn't dare click pictures, Aisha and Avni can come down by themselves when they want to see it. They will be delighted.
"Kaira, let's get you home." Ishaan said, coming beside me.
"Hmmm." I said again, and he gave me an eye roll.
"Okay." I answered finally. Took one last look at baby, said bye to Bhabhi, and went out with Ishaan.
I was so sleep deprived that I again dozed off in the jeep. Vigorous shaking from Ishaan is what woke me up.
"Sleeping beauty, your palace is here." He said, chuckling, and tugged a loose hair behind my ear.
He was looking at me with so many emotions in his eyes, I melted straight away.
I quickly placed a kiss on his lips and escaped from the vehicle while he just sat their bewildered.
My phone pinged with a text from him while I was in the elevator. My lips automatically curled up into a smile.
"I am going to get my revenge soon, Ms. Bhardwaj." With a wink emoji.
I dashed straight to my room, which Aisha already made, but still I crashed at it. I can handle Aishu's scoldings later on.
When I woke up, it was afternoon, and Aisha was in the kitchen again. Did she even go to work?
"You didn't go to the hospital?" I asked, sitting on the couch.
"I am on mental health holiday of three days." She replied.
Oh yeah, they get three days' holiday to relax and meditate or whatever to stabilize and calm themselves down. At least, that's what I am told.
"Ishaan called, but you were sleeping like a panda, so I didn't wake you up." She said once again.
"Okay, I will call him back." I replied with a smile.
"I can see the glow and smile on your lips. Don't try to hide them. Also, Avni's getting us something in the evening. I don't know what it is, but beware." She said laughing. Well, Avni does have a tendency to get a little weird things sometimes, but most of them are good.
We had lunch, and I again crashed down on the bed. My whole body was aching, and the best thing, I don't even know why.
Ishaan came in the evening, but I was still too beat to do anything. Aman, Avni too dropped by next.
"Where is Krish?" Aishu asked.
"Off to someone, my best guess." Aman said, and we eyed Aisha.
"Just wanted to know if I need to add one more plate here." She said, gesturing to the table.
"I don't think he is gonna return tonight." Aman said with a shrug. There was a light fall in Aisha's expression, but she replaced it with a smile soon enough for anyone to notice.
What goes on her mind, no one can figure it out ever. And I am no exception, I guess.
