"Boss, we have a problem." My PA said, coming into my cabin.
"When do we not?" I said, rubbing my forehead.
"Ms. Parker is not at all satisfied with the seating arrangements." he replied.
"Okay, that is solvable, right?" I asked with a quick glance at him.
"Maybe. She is requesting a personal meeting with you." He said nervously.
"Okay, schedule it." I said, sighing. This lady clearly doesn't understand boundaries. I stood up and took my coat from the back of the chair and put it on.
"Um, Boss, she is here now." He said again, backing away a little.
"She, what?" I almost shouted. I was already exhausted from the morning drama of my mother, but no, female species didn't want to leave me alone today.
"Okay, sent her in." I said with a sigh, sitting back in my original position.
Minutes later, I heard the voice of heels clicking, and there she stood, Alina Parker, daughter of the business tycoon Mr. Parker. He and his his wife are both so sweet and down to earth, I wonder from where this girl got her personality.
"Ahh, Ms. Parker. Good to see you." I said with my fake smile on.
"You too, Mr. Malhotra, and call me Alina, please." She said, sitting down.
"Well, let's get down to the problem." I said and opened the seating arrangements in the tablet and passed it to her.
"Please circle the seating you find inappropriate, and we will take care of the rest." I said, I am a very sweet and outgoing guy, but with this woman, my personality seems to take a 360-degree turn.
"Oh, okay." She said a little taken back.
Just then, my office phone rang, it displayed, Embassy. Definitely Kaira Bhardwaj calling, a ghost smile came to my lips, but I dissolved it real quick.
"Good morning, Mr. Malhotra. I was calling from the embassy to check about the Diwali festivities plan." she said in a flat tone.
"Yes, Ms. Bhardwaj, I will be more than happy to walk you over the plans as soon as you tell me when you are free." I replied genuinely happy.
"Just email them to them me, I will review and send the feedback." she replied.
"As you wish, Miss," I said and immediately cut the call, realizing the fact that Alina was throwing daggers at me with her eyes.
"All good, Miss Alina?" I asked casually. After what seemed like eternity, she was finally done, and I sighed in relief.
"Yeah, I have circled the things that are wrong, and I will be taking off now." She said, standing up, and I extended my hand for a handshake.
"See you later, Ishaan?" She said more like asked.
"See you, Ms. Parker." I said without answering her question in yes or no. This is where she is wrong, I would never meet her on my own accord or until someone holds a gun to my head.
I set to my next work, emailing the details of Diwali event I had planned for this year, I couldn't even irritate Kaira, she is always so uptight and strict that it is thrilling to mess with her.
I emailed her the schedule and itinerary of the event after adding some suggestions and editing some things, which I had to do earlier, but my lazy ass wasn't ready to. I started waiting for the response to the annoying note I attached at last. Then it struck me that it's already 4:45, and she might be getting off now. Alina took way more time than needed. So, I gave up waiting and went home too. I didn't even have lunch today, my so so bad luck. I need something good now, all I won't be able to live through night.
"Heyyy maaa." I said as soon as I entered the mansion.
"Chachuuuu." My one and only niece came running to me.
"Mishaaaa." I replied in her tone, picked her up in my arms, and twirled her.
"Chachu, Mumma doesn't let me eat the fries." She said, making a pout as Bhabhi emerged from inside the kitchen.
I have an elder brother who inherited Dadu's might chain of hotels while I inherited a large chunk of money that I invested in my event managing firm. Yash bhai and Sakhi Bhabhi have been married for 7 years now, and Misha is 5 years old, their daughter.
"Why are you doing so, Bhabhi?" I asked in a playful, stern voice.
"She has been asking to go to McDonald's from the morning. What am I supposed to do? Your brother isn't home, and Maa has restricted me from stepping out." Bhabhi said helplessly. Yeah, she is 7 months pregnant, and Maa is kinda strict with that.
"No problem, give me two minutes, I will drop off my stuff and take you, Mishu, okay?" I asked the little devil.
"Yayyyyy." She said, throwing her arms around my neck.
I went to my room, placed the bag and the jacket in the closet, washed my face, and grabbed the keys of my Thar. We both put our seat belts and took off to the nearest McDonald's, which is almost 15 minutes and 10 km away.
Misha was on my back, she requested a piggy ride and I gave her. That's what she does to me, if she wants anything I fucking lay at her feet.
"What do you want?" I asked her.
"McVeggie with extra cheese and a coke." She said from behind me.
"No coke for you, only for me." I said grinning and she made an annoyed noise.
I ordered two McVeggies with fries and coke for myself. What I didn't expect at all was to see the uptight and the frowner Kaira Bhardwaj sitting at the table in front of me.
Misha pinched me and said, "Chachu move." And that's when it hit me that I was frozen at spot staring creepily at Kaira because for a change, she wasn't in formals, and that scowl between her brows were gone.
"Why are you staring at her like that?" Misha asked, straining her head in front of me.
"Nothing darling, was just surprised to see her." I said, shaking my head and making way to a table near the window, which was empty.
"You know her?" Misha asked again as I put her down.
"Kind of." I said, sitting opposite to her.
"Then go and say hi. My teacher says that it's rude not to say hi to a friend." Misha lectured me.
"She is not my friend." I said, looking at her.
"Pleasee, can we go say hi? Plus, she is so beautiful, I wanna talk to her too." Misha said, grinning at me.
"Fine, but this is your last wish I am fulfilling today." I said, and she hopped on my back again.
