Mona's POV

Chapter 3: Enter The Shadows

Mona is seen walking the following morning wearing a light tan buttoned brown coat, black ripped jeans, and black Doc Martin boots. She is walking around the city square with Tarni floating beside her.

"So? What's it like to be a spirit?"

Mona indicates. "It has advantages and disadvantages," Tarni says. "Although, I get to taunt people I don't like." She chuckles. "Yeah, like what you did to me last night. Which scared the living fuck outta me. Thank you very much." Tarni laughs while Mona glances at her displeased.

"I had to do something to catch your attention."

They keep walking by food stores and shopping centers. "So Jordan and you are dating now?" Mona rolls her eyes in irritation. "We are just friends, nothing else." Tarni snarkily rolls her eyes.

"Yeah, like I believe that. I know that will change." Both of them arrive at the café where Jordan and Mona had planned to meet. Before opening the glass door with red and white stripes resembling candy canes on the brim, Mona pauses and gives Tarni a frustrated look.

"I didn't ask him for help. He insisted. It's not going to be a physical sex show like what you do with guys. He is the only one who knows about all this. He is worried about her. So just don't make me feel uncomfortable, okay?"

As everyone looks at her in confusion, she stops talking. Mona lowers her head as she opens the glass door and enters the cafe. "Yeah, we will see about that," Tarni giggles, and then fades away. She doesn't appear offended.

As Mona walks into the busy cafe. There is a colorful jukebox playing 'Take On Me' by A-ha. She stops and looks across at Jordan, dressed as a waiter since he works part-time at one of the best Italian cafes/restaurants in town, "Bella Italia." He takes a seat at a booth as she notices two takeout cups on the table. "Mona!" He calls for her while waving to her. She approaches him.

"It's great that you're here."

Mona says as she is thrilled to see him. She takes a seat facing him. "It's no trouble. I brought you a latte." He smiles as he slides it toward her. When she took the cup from the table, Mona grinned at him. "Oh, you didn't have to." She puts the cup down after taking a sip.

"So, What's the plan?"

Telling Jordan that I could see my deceased best friend made me incredibly anxious. I hope he didn't think I was crazy or that I needed proper fucking help. But, I couldn't lie.

Mona rests her hands on the table while she fidgets. "You're going to think I'm insane after what you're about to hear." Jordan cocks his head in curiosity. "I'm sure I won't," Mona drew in a long breath. "Last night, I experienced a strange thing." Jordan is informed by Mona about how Tarni appeared to her as a ghost and how only she was able to see her. Jordan reclines on the seat, puzzled and shocked. He says nothing at all. Mona notices Tarni seated next to her, as Mona rubs her shoulder in embarrassment.
