Chapter 16: Relapse
Jacob exits the flashy yellow bus outside The New York Elementary School on that specific day. He walks inside with his backpack while wearing a crimson short-sleeved shirt, black jeans, and shoes. Jacob glances around as he passes by numerous students observing and talking about him. He rushes inside the school building.

Jacob moves through a hallway inside the school, passing numerous classrooms. A gang of young boys tease him and point at him while laughing. Their clothes appeared shabby and messy, and their hair was disheveled. "Look, it's the death, boy!" Someone yells. "How's your sister doing?"The other young man laughs. As Jacob runs away from them, he frowns and begins to cry.

Mona looks out at the vacant football field from the Senior Collage. She moves over to a few vacant chairs near the field to sit. She observes some of the cheerleaders practicing. Their skimpy blue and yellow striped skirts were so short, you could see the tan lines on their thighs.
The players on the field continue working out and kicking the AFL ball toward one another. They each wore protective headgear and padding on their shoulders and knees. Mona watches as Tarni takes a seat next to her.
"It's funny, it feels like I'm back watching Bingo play again."
Weekly, Mona smiles and casts a glimpse at Tarni.
"I used to sit on the side of the field and watch him, it was like there was no such thing as my over-controlling dad or stress head of a mother,"
As she listened to her, Mona grinned. "Yeah. That certainly sounds worthwhile."
"I remember when Bingo used to score, he would blow a kiss toward me. Or do some sort of funny thing." Tarni giggles.
She casts Mona a sidelong look. "Love is beautiful Mona. The feeling when someone cares about you is just something you would want to just have every day, every moment." She beams. "Every time I see Jordan and you so close, it makes me think back to our moments with Bingo. Even Bailey at one stage." Mona makes a feeble smile.
"You are right." Mona sighs and shakes her head. "I like Jordan a lot. But I don't know if becoming something more is the right time. I mean, he obviously will ask me to prom. But now that you're not here, I don't think I will go." Tarni reacts shocked and dejectedly to Mona's response. "He truly respects you, girl. Mona? Just because I am not here anymore, shouldn't stop you from not going to prom. I mean, I know you weren't interested in going anyway. But this is a one-in-a-lifetime." Tarni smirks.
