Chapter 25: My Final Chapter
Time was running out. The night was eerily still, yet the moon cast enough light to make the factory ahead as clear as day.
John and Bailey pulled up to the entrance, the tires crunching softly against the gravel. Without hesitation, they hopped out, each reaching for their pistols. The quiet clicks of magazines locking into place filled the air as they loaded their weapons.
John met Bailey's gaze and gave a firm nod. "We go in stealth. Shoot if necessary. These pistols suppress sound." His voice was low, controlled. "You've done this before."
Bailey smirked, rolling his eyes as he checked his gun. "Loud and clear, old man. Maybe you could take a few notes from me this time."
John shot him a dry look. "Shut up," he muttered, laced with sarcasm. With that, they moved toward the entrance, weapons ready, shadows swallowing them whole.

"Katie... you don't have to do this," Mona gasped, struggling for breath. "I was there for you. Not everyone is a bad person."
Katie's grip on the gun tightened as she stomped her foot, her eyes burning with fury. "I had to. I wanted to." Her voice wavered, but the rage remained. "Everyone shut me out my entire life. The one time I finally felt like I belonged... it was with you." Her expression twisted with pain. "And now, you're just like the rest of them. Even Jordan." Her voice cracked. "That kiss—it was betrayal."
Mona shook her head, disappointment flickering in her eyes. "You kissed Jordan?" she whispered, stunned. "Pretending to be someone you're not... manipulating everyone?"
Katie's lips curled into a grin before she erupted into laughter—wild, uncontrollable, almost hysterical.
Katie's grip on the gun didn't waver as she sneered. "Jordan is nothing but a lowlife. That idiot turned me down—left me on the side of the road like a stray dog. And for what?" Her voice cracked with bitterness. "Because he said he loves you."
Mona's chest tightened, frustration boiling over. "What? So you're jealous of me?" she snapped.
Katie rolled her eyes. "Jealous? Of you? Fuck off. Not even close."
Mona's breath hitched as tears welled in her eyes. "Everyone mourned for you, Katie. Your family mourned for you. So tell me—who the hell is buried in your grave?"
Katie shrugged, completely unfazed. "Someone who probably didn't deserve their life." A smirk tugged at her lips. "It's called acting, sweetheart." She tilted her head slightly. "With a little makeup and the right connections, you can pull off a double anytime."
Mona clenched her jaw, biting her tongue to keep herself from screaming. Her glare burned into Katie, but the other woman remained cold, unreadable.
Mona took a shaky breath. "Well, you got me now." Her voice was steady, despite the fury bubbling inside her. "Just leave everyone else out of this."
