Chapter 7: Teamwork

Mona wakes up at 7:30 a.m. and heads down to the kitchen, where she changes into black tight leather shorts with fishnet stockings, with a crop black Van Halen emblem top. On her approach to the front door, she gets her skateboard and backpack when Grace, dressed well in a bone-colored suit, stops her.

"Mona? Could you please do me a tremendous favor?"

Mona slowly turns around and grins in response. "Sure?" Grace reaches for a crimson folder on the kitchen table. "Do you mind dropping by Bingo's house and delivering this to his mother, Sandy?" It's only paperwork for my artwork. I have a presentation meeting today and she won't be there. I'd give it to her afterward, but I'm unsure how long I'll be."

Mona takes the red folder from Grace and looks down at it. "Sure, I can do that." "Wonderful, thank you. I hope to see you soon. Leftovers are in the fridge." Mona watches Grace exit outside to the front, get in her car, and drive away from the house. Pogie approaches Mona, prodding her and barking quietly. Mona pats him on the head as she walks out the front door.

"Are you going to school today?"

Tarni inquires. "No, we need to figure out what Bingo has installed, This is our only opportunity. However, I have an assignment due, so I can't afford to forget to drop it off at class." Mona agrees. "What if Grace finds the truth? Will she go insane?" Tarni is terrified. "She won't, that's the point of lying. No big deal, I'll say I had an afternoon class and they didn't mark the roll."

"Did you end up hearing from Bailey?"

Tarni wonders as she walks behind Mona, skateboarding along the street in a residential area. "No, not yet." Mona sighs uncomfortably. "I'm not going to lie, I'm a little nervous. Especially now that we're on our way to Bingo's home."

"I'm with you." Tarni frowns thoughtfully. "What's wrong?" Mona inquires after witnessing Tarni disturbed. "I know I said Bailey can be kind-hearted, but maybe he is helping us to make us not think it was him?" Tarni sighs. "Jordan might be right. He may just be covering his ass or whatever." Mona shrugs and sighs. "What other option do we have? He may be our best bet, especially because he knows certain groups in town." Tarni shrugs in uncertainty.

Mona and Tarni stand in front of Bingo's small, white one-story house with a blue brick roof. The windows were squared, and the curtains hung loosely closed, yet it was impossible to look inside.

"I'm afraid to knock,"

Mona adds as she turns to face Tarni. "I know. Just standing on his doorstep makes me nauseous." "When I was alive, I used to visit here frequently. We'd slip out together, or I'd come home while his parents weren't there, and," Mona abruptly cuts her off, disgusted. "Please. No need to continue." Mona knocks on the door in anticipation of a response, but no one replies. She tries again, this time pressing the buzzer on the door. Again, no response.
