Chapter 15: Crystals
A few hours before break-in...
As John stands in front of the TV store next to Amari, his phone goes off in his pocket. He pulls it out of the pocket of his jeans. "Hello, John speaking?" He scowls, confused. "Hi, it's Lieutenant Fellowes from the Department of Special Forces calling. Could you come to the station, please?" "Sure." He replies formally. Amri casts a bewildered side glance at him as he hangs up the phone. John holds his phone in his hands and keeps an anxious eye on it. "Everything all right?" She queries. He makes a head motion toward her. "I am not sure, but I gotta go," Amari observes John as he walks away.

Numerous police officers turn to face John as he enters the station after hearing him enter. One of them approaches him. "Did you see who has come to visit?" He indicates Jones' office. "Over there." When John gazes over, he notices Jones and the Lieutenant talking in his office. The Lieutenant is dressed professionally in a dark grey suit and has his blond locks pulled back into a bun. John inhales deeply before walking over to Jones' office.
John knocks and opens the door. Jones and the lieutenant take a look over and notice him. The lieutenant motions for him to sit. "Please, take a seat." John takes a seat after grabbing a chair.
"What's happening?" Jones and the lieutenant give a stern look at each other. "We recently received a recording of you discussing a murder you were involved with." John's eyes enlarge and he freezes. He frowns at Jones and casts a sidelong glance at him. Jones smirks as he sits with professionalism and assurance. "What do you mean?" John looks the lieutenant in the eyes and asks staggered.
From his folder on Jones' desk, the lieutenant takes out a transcript. He clears his throat. "Does this ring any bells?" He listens to the lieutenant as he reads the script;
"I got sucked into a dangerous drug group that promised me money if I ran errands to support my family."
"My boss ordered me to kill this man in a pub but I couldn't. So, I killed him to stop him from harming my family. And It goes on."
John responds in shock. "What? But this is impossible!?" When John watches Jones smile and lift his head with pride, he becomes worried. John silently sneers at him. "John? You are aware that entering the force requires no convictions." John grimaces. "But, sir? It happened long ago. I was a child. If I had tried to reach out, my family would have been in trouble."
The lieutenant lets out a sigh, and John inhales. "John, I apologize. I know you're an excellent officer. You cannot, however, have any sort of criminal record. We have had already enough murders in our city. I don't think having a murderer on the force, would look good on us if this gets leaked out."
He pauses. "I am going to have to suspend you from the force, until further notice." John exhales and his sad eyes grow. "No, you can't do that. I love my job." The Lieutenant concurs and begins picking up his belongings. Lieutenant Fellowes casts a dejected glance up at John before beginning to leave the office. John stands up quickly and follows after him. "Sir? Please? I've been recruited in this force for so long. What's going to happen to me?"
