The moon was high yet was nowhere to be seen, hidden behind the thick grey clouds. It had just began raining like it was in his heart, while having made his way to an unfamiliar house after a quick irrational call.
He knew that it was their anniversary tonight, unable to prevent himself from thinking of all the happy moments he'd be making while he lay'ed there on the bed with a glass in hand. The wine somehow tasted bitter than usual, making him wonder if it truly was worth it to have come here like this. "You seem bothered by something." The sudden voice that came from beside him made him swallow, surprised by how deep it sounded. "That is why I came..."
Mingyu gave him a slow nod, walking towards him until he reached the bedside table and picked up his phone. He seemed to be typing something the latter could not see, later putting it in his pocket to continue their conversation. "Ah... so you want me to be your distraction for the night. Although I must confess that I had hoped for much more when I asked you out. And now... here we are."
Yibo looked down, his unending guilt eating him up from the inside out. "Is it... that disappointing? Me being here like this I mean." Mingyu gave him a look and turned around to grab his own glass for a drink. "Well, I wouldn't exactly call it disappointing. It's simply... a waste. It makes me wonder if I'm not worth it or... if you have someone else in your heart." Yibo swallowed. "So you realised."
"I mean I figured only after so long. One does not simply avoid relationships if they haven't gotten their heart broken." Wei's words were truly fascinating to speak out loud, yet making Mingyu irk his face as he took a seat by his side. "I guess that's true... didn't think you'd be wise enough for such words."
Mingyu let out a laugh and lay'ed himself down, now looking at Yibo from under. "Don't I look wise? I mean- I'm rich and handsome, best qualities you can find no?" Yibo hummed. "Right... the best qualities that enable me to think how wise you may not be." Mingyu chuckled, later pausing as Yibo suddenly climbed on top and sat over his stomach. "Do you want to talk all night?"
Mingyu sighed, reaching his hand to caress his cheek. "I would stop but... the reminder of how those eyes might see someone else before them just... makes me feel bothered I guess." Yibo's gaze fell, his brows slightly furrowed. "I... don't want to think about that person anymore. If I did then I would run to him, not you." Mingyu chuckled, his fingers slowly tucking strands of Yibo's hair behind his ear. "Really.... that, or you aren't going to him because you simply can't. This is all out of spite for all I know..." If he had not made that deal with Zhan he would've jumped on him here and then without a care for who his eyes might see when he looks at him. Yet he had said so for his sake, hoping to ease his heart for the latter so that he may decide to leave this place on his own accord. As disappointing as it was to push him to do so, he simply let out a sigh and continued.
He found it truly foolish that Zhan would take his time to decide between such a rare gem and a lawyer. Although she had been quite special in her own way, in his opinion, Yibo had much more to show than it met the eye. And that was what made him get jealous. Zhan had it all once more, and there was nothing he could do about it. "You say such presumptuous things when the truth is right here." He then patted on his chest and smiled. "Are you sure you want to continue?" With that, he suddenly turned him around and pressed him against the bed, the latter now on top. He squeezed his wrists, his face too close to ignore. "What you do out of spite is none of my business, but using me to ignore the whispers is just disrespectful."
Yibo furrowed his brows, struggling to get out of his grip. "I thought we were on the same page." Mingyu hummed, beginning to feel annoyed and tired due to the opposition he had to act out against his desires. Just how exhausting it must've been for Zhan, only the heavens knew how he managed. "We are, we are. But just to be sure of it... do you really want to do this to forget?"
