It was an oddly sunny day, somehow reminding him of the past events in his life where the day had been sunny like this one. It was slightly cold and foggy too, causing his mind to reminisce even further back.
Yet after some time those memories started to seem dull and the sun started to annoy him as they walked under only the highest skyscrapers, holding the bestest of law firms inside.
Yibo was on his way to meet Li Na, together with Yichen following from behind. Now that he thought about it, it may have been the company his mood was affected negatively by. From what he could feel, it was all but just annoyance and a tad bit of resentment, swirling in his chest like a wave of dragons. But he couldn't bother arguing with the feelings, let alone prevent himself from showing them to the other party.
And hence it being obvious, Yichen's awareness on the matter slowly came to grow, especially when Yibo had left him at the other side of the road when the light had been red for the latter. Furrowing his brows in bother, he softly cleared his throat to get his attention and spoke. "So how is it going with Zhan?"
Yibo shrugged, not wanting to really answer. "It's fine." Yichen hummed back, thinking on what to say to continue the conversation. "That's good... and how are things at work? Since Zhan took over, I'm guessing there must be some troubles he's facing. He may have been taught his entire life how to rule a company, but the entertainment business is much trickier and harder to manage. Well, at least that's what I'm assuming after having researched it back when I used to work with... you know who."
Yibo nodded as they walked, his behaviour indifferent. "No, he's fine."
Yichen sighed, now grabbing him by the arm before pulling him to the side of the street. "Okay- what's wrong? I'm trying to make conversation here yet you're ignoring me without a return. I would've at least excpected some respect since I'm the older one here." Yibo scoffed as he brushed his hand away. "Respect? Because you're older? Are you kidding me? That thing is earned and not handed down on a silver platter."
Yichen scoffed back as he rose his hands. "Then tell me what I'm doing wrong. Have I done something bad to you? Or- or what? Is it my existence?" Yibo's frown only grew as he crossed his arms. "You could say that-"
"So it's me being here- that's it?"
Yibo nodded back to which Yichen's shoulders dropped at. "I know you were younger at the time, but what were you really thinking, leaving a child to carry all that weight?" Yichen slightly raised his voice at that. "You know the reason- Zhan understands-"
"I don't care about that! Zhan may have forgiven you but that does not make what you did right! You come out of the blue- holding the last piece of the puzzle like some saint- when you've been nothing but a dick, letting Zhan do the whole job like he was the one responsible!"
Yibo's eyes narrowed, seeming both sad and angry. "This was not only his fight- but yours too. Yet you chose to run away like a coward, and even then-- now here you are only after the conflict has ended, acting like a big brother to him. Who are you!? Who are you really to act like a brother when you're nothing but a pathetic asshole, who let others handle his job?"
Yichen's breath was heavy, his expression dim. He didn't seem to want to fight him on this, not even a trace of resistance in his eyes. He wasn't complaining, but he also wasn't denying. This made Yibo doubt his "good" intentions further, causing his mind to fog over with bad thoughts.
"...you're not even going to say a word? So I am right-"
"You are... right. I was a coward. And I did run away. But that doesn't change the fact that I care for my brother still. I may have not been there for him before, but I will be now." Yibo rose his brows, clearly not convinced by his words. "So you're shameless and a dick. Hah... if you're any smarter than what I'm making you out to be, then I suggest you leave. You have no place here. Not as a friend.... and definitely not as a brother."
