A couple of days had passed since his day at the hospital. He was now outside at a cafe near one of the biggest most powerful law firms in China. Hiring a lawyer was one way to get ahead of someone and beat them at their game, especially if they were a government contributor like Xiao Jun.
He knew that he must've done some shady business to get where he was. After all, if there was one thing he knew about successful business, it was that there was no innocence in it. Clean money was a non-existing factor in this world and economy, even for spectacles like Wang Yibo and his agency.
That man had viciously played his way into buying his company, and Yibo was sure that he must've done so illegally. If there was even the smallest evidence to prove that he had acquired this business with bad means, then Yibo was certain that there would be a way to exploit him and end all of this for once and for all.
So there he was now, sitting at one of the tables by the window, gazing at the cloudy sky. He had called on the law firm a couple of hours before his talk with Mingyu that day, hence having told him that he'd play the way Jun had. And a day before today, he had gotten a call which had confirmed him of his request for hiring an attorney.
While waiting for them to arrive so they could start their meeting, he decided to order a cup of coffee, hoping that it would go well with the aftertaste of the cigarette he had just smoked.
Yet the time seemed never ending, making him feel more anxious than he had been a couple days prior to this meeting.
He waited another half an hour while drinking his coffee, his chest beginning to squeeze from impatience. But that didn't last long as a hand suddenly slammed his table, making him raise his head in surprise. "Hah... I really can't believe it's you. I was hoping that a different Wang Yibo would be existing somewhere in China but... it seems it's only you."
Yibo furrowed his brows with slight disappointment, not pleased to see her either. "Couldn't you have turned down my request then? If I had known that you would've come then I would've just gone to a different law firm."
Li Na sat down across from him and took out some documents, starting to get ready. "And you think that would've worked? No one at the firm was willing to take your case after seeing that you'd be going against Xiao Jun of all people. It's a tough fight." Yibo looked at her with suspecting eyes. "And why did you accept it? You don't even like me."
"True... I did think through it a lot. Even though it would be nice to see your downfall, I still couldn't help myself from fighting for justice." Yibo oh'ed, now leaning back. "So this is an attorney's thing. Defending the truth and such... it's your duty. Right... right.."
Li Na sighed. "If there is no fight to find the truth hidden beneath dark lies, then there will never be any hope of seeing the light. Justice must always be served, that, is the law of the world. Humanity falls prey to sins every day, and it is our job as attorneys to fix that."
Yibo scoffed. "So you're a wannabe saint. Figures.... no wonder you are wearing a cross on your neck. Whatever, I'll be in your hands then miss attorney." Although that last part had been said with the intent of sarcasm, Li Na simply squinted her eyes and answered with sternness.
"Yes, I will be of help. And besides, fighting against a big influential man will always look good in my resume. It will surely be on the news, since after all, the reporters would be itching to know who up goes against one of the richest and most powerful men in the whole of Asia." Yibo nodded in understanding. "So you're doing this for reputation as well. Your god would disapprove."
