A smart man would always choose his own reputation over a spiteful revenge plan. And that was what Xiao Jun had done in order to fix up his image through the help of his son who chose to ruin all of his accomplishments, in return of saving the man he cared for more than himself.

He may have now gotten rid of the contract, but the reminder of what he had fought for for the past two and a half years had went down the drain just like that. Zhan did not know what to feel, puffing up a cigarette at the top of their company building. Inhaling the nicotine did not help like how it used to, making him feel stressed and lost with anxiety even further.

Soon, a man came to visit him as he made his way to stand beside him next to the tiny greenhouse made of glass. He was a bit shorter than Zhan, but his rough yet mature looks made up for it all. "How does it feel to lose?" Zhan inhaled more of the smoke, his lungs now aching. "I'm tired."

"And here I thought I'd hear you say you'd ruin me." Zhan's eyes glanced up at the sky, his shoulders heavy. "I will. I just hate you... so, so much that it kills me."

Jun's expression darkened at his words, his eyes cold and emotionless. "You're in an endless pit. You wish to bring me down with such miserable actions let alone something so low as your hopeless spite?" Zhan looked back at him, his gaze just as stern. But it also seemed a bit off, the old man unsure of what was hidden beneath it. "The man I've been wishing to protect is now safe. And I did what you told me to... so it ends here."

Jun furrowed his brows. "I'm... not sure what you mean although it is quite bold of you to say that." Zhan nodded, now looking up at the sky. "You have wanted me to succeed your company for years since my brother left. And you have gone through any means to force me into your submission. I used to wonder if your will to keep me by your side had been for loving me but then I thought it was a ridiculous assumption after having seen your true colours."

Jun looked down, arms behind his back. "And... what do you think?"

Zhan then smiled, seeming somehow hurt to the latter upon him taking a glimpse of his expression. "I think that you hate my brother. But I don't think that you hate me."

His father then chuckled, seeming somehow amused. "What you have done is far greater than your brother simply running away from me. What makes you think that I would dislike him but not you? Hate is a strong word you know." Zhan hummed, hands now holding the railings before him. "I suppose it's for you to decide and solve the mystery behind that. After I'm gone that is."

"Gone? That's a ridiculous thought yet again. You're not making any sense." Zhan nodded as he suddenly pulled himself up and hopped on the other side of the cold iron bars. "Tell me. What would happen if I am not there to take your position anymore? Would you appoint someone else or continue to build your legacy until the day you die?"

With that, he suddenly jumped off.

Jun's eyes widened as he quickly reached out to grab his arm which he successfully held within his grasp. With big worried eyes, he went down on his knees and grabbed him with his other hand also, now trying to pull him up.

Yet when Zhan looked up, his expression eased, his lips now smiling like he was challenging him. "You know, the expression you're making now is definitely worth the jump." Jun yelled back ."Are you out of your mind!? Climb up! Quick!"

"Are you sure? You said it yourself, Yibo may not want to be with me anymore. I let him down a lot. And as for you... I am now your puppet yet I still have my own will. Wouldn't it be easier for you to watch me become crippled so it'd be easier to control me?" Jun's words suddenly paused to which Zhan's swallowed at.
