Fixing Clexa's story to give them an ending they deserved (an *ending, not the journey they deserved). They are clearly endgame but it turned into a bit more of an adult-themed journey to get there so just a warning it takes a slightly dark turn ar...

"I told you I can ride." Clarke insists as she drags a small piece of charcoal across Lexa's face, coloring in all around her eyes all the way back until it reaches her hair, which is pulled back into fresh braids Clarke herself did this morning. The two are sitting at the foot of the bed, Lexa now dressed in her full armor Luna brought back from the tower."Pleeeeease, I promise I'll be fine." She plants a playful kiss on the commander's neck, before pulling the charcoal down three times on each cheek.
"You can barely walk, your stiches will open if you are on a horse." Lexa replies, "You will be safer here."
"I need to be there when you get to the blockade border" Clarke protests.
"And I need to address whatever ambassadors are still in Polis by myself, without you next to me seemingly influencing my decisions." Lexa stands, and slides her dagger into its sheath. "Trust me, Clarke. I have to do this on my own."
Clarke stands, trying to prove her mobility. "I don't need to be in the room when you address them. I can hide for all I care, no one even needs to know I'm there."
"You do need to hide Clarke, HERE. You are staying here." Lexa's frustration shows, as the image of Titus holding her around the neck flashes through her mind. "Right now the only thing we know is that my people want to kill ALL of your people. No alliances, no treaties, no agreements. If anyone sees you I don't know if they will obey me and not harm you. You still need to heal, and you need to stay where no one will find you. That's the end of it."
"So much for our people." Clarke says, defeated.
"Don't do that, niron." Lexa drops her voice back down, walking up to stand in front of Clarke, pulling her waist in close. "We want the same thing." She holds Clarke's face in her hands and kisses her, slowly at first but then it builds as they swallow each other's breaths, and when she's almost tipping Clarke backwards towards the bed again, she feels Clarke wince as her leg gives out, but she catches her and holds her upright.
Lexa notices a black smudge on Clarke's face, "Oops" she giggles as she wipes it away with her hand.
Clarke sees Lexa's warpaint is also smeared, laughing as she turns to pick up the charcoal again, "Come here you little raccoon."
"What's a raccoon?" Lexa asks, confused.
"You've lived in the woods you're whole life and you've never seen a--- you know what, never mind." Clarke laughs to herself as she shakes her head. It hadn't dawned on her that just because they'd seen some animals survive the nuclear apocalypse – however deformed, that it didn't mean they all did.
"It's uh...just an animal that had black across its eyes just like this." She kisses Lexa lightly on her nose when she's finished.
"Was it a fierce animal? Feared like the Paunau?"
"Ummmmm when it's angry, yes. But mostly it's just cute." Clarke says with a smirk.
"I'm not trying to look cute!" Lexa says scrunching her face.
