Lexa's trained ears hear the snap of a twig and disconnects her lips from Clarke's.

She's back over at the rocks, still waist-deep in the water, reaching for her boot with Clarke scrambling behind her in a panic, but Lexa braces Clarke protectively behind her with her left arm, and nimbly flicks a tiny dagger towards the treeline in mere seconds. The small blade sticks into a tree trunk a few yards away with a sharp thud, a foot away from a head emerging out from the shadows.

A warning.

Indra's stern face emerges just then into the light, unamused and disapproving. A second face pokes out from behind her.

"What the hell guys?!? We were worried sick about you!" Octavia scolds.

"Where did you pull that dagger from?!?!" Clarke's face is still in shock and just a little turned on from Lexa's instant shift into warrior mode.

"I'm never without a dagger?" Lexa replies, as if that should have been obvious.

"So you just threw your only dagger at whoever was coming for us?!?!" Clarke slaps at Lexa's arm jokingly, "What was the plan next?"

Lexa's eyebrows crinkle almost insulted, as she cocks her head "You think that was my only one?"

After a brief pause, both girls break into a fit of giggles, and the two new arrivals step towards the water.

"Hed- Commander," Indra catches herself, "I'm sorry to intrude, but you had not returned as expected and with recent....events...I did not want to take any chances and wait." She looks at her second next to her, " And I did not want to alert the rest of your guard just yet."

"Also don't leave me in the dark next time either!" Octavia pipes up again sharply, looking at both Clarke and Lexa, but then focuses on the commander, who cocks her head at the tone being used at her, "You're not the only one who cares about her, you know. Some of us have just as much right to know where you guys are when you're out here completely unprotected." She gestures at the woods around them.

Octavia's tone is dangerously harsh and all four present feel the tension as Lexa's entire demeanor shifts. Her entire body stiffens, and she slowly pushes herself up on the rocks to emerge from the water and stand in front of Octavia, dripping wet with every toned, trained muscle flexed and on display. The younger girl takes a step back, trying not to look over the commander's body but it's incredible how absolutely intimidating she can look without any of her armor or weapons or even clothes for that matter.

Lexa says nothing. Instead she glares at the young warrior as she steps towards her, and Octavia stays frozen. Clarke is about to call out for Lexa to come back into the water, wanting to diffuse the situation when Lexa steps past Octavia, reaching up to pull her dagger out of the tree trunk behind them, and slowly walks back towards the water.

"Clarke will always be safe with me." Lexa says firmly, dropping the dagger back into her boot and speaking dismissively over her shoulder, "And tomorrow the rest of Polis will see what happens to anyone who might even consider harming her."

She hops back into the water with a graceful splash, and positions herself behind Clarke, wrapping her arms around the blonde's torso to gently pull her backwards deeper into the water until it's up to their chest. Her eyes stay fixed on Octavia, and Clarke can barely suppress her grin feeling Lexa run her fingers across her lower stomach under the water.

"We will be back at first light tomorrow, I assure you." She says, leaning her head into the side of Clarke's, before looking at her general, "I do not require any monitoring, but I appreciate your concern."
