. . .
Emer had just succeeded in getting everyone's attention again, before beginning her new plot, which she got thanks to Harris's brother.
"So, champagne or Red wine?" Emer asked collecting two glasses from Patricia, who had just arrived with two glasses of alcoholic wines.
She drops them afterwards on the table, in front of Aimy."None thank you, I don't drink." Aimy replied tapping a finger on the table, with a mild smile. Making it obvious she understood their con and wasn't falling for it.
"Don't worry, we've got juice too. We know not all cool people like to drink." Emer added, waving her hand for someone to pass her a juice, and a guy from the crowd drops one in her hand.
She places it in front of Aimy, who just kept staring at it."Jui-ce, non-alcoholic, go-od to drink." Emer dragged mockingly, causing everyone to burst out laughing
"I'm just not interested, not dumb." Aimy replied pushing the cup of juice aside.
"Oh really? or are you feeling guilty for throwing a party while your boyfriend's ill." Patricia added cunningly, in a questioning manner.
"Guilty?!" Aimy repeated confusingly
"Yah, who does that?" Someone in the crowd added.
"Let the kid be. She probably wasn't aware he was ill." Patricia interrupted pretending to take Aimy side. She rests both hands on each sides of Aimy's shoulder.
"Kid?!" Aimy repeated still confused
"Yah, she's right. Like I said before, why would she make-up something as big as dating a Wynn? It's just weird. Perhaps she doesn't care that much for him not to notice." Emer questioned again, getting up.
"Oh, cut it out Emer.
He could've hidden it from her. I mean you've been with him the past few days and you didn't know either." Lilley intrudes stepping out from nowhere to save Aimy."But he's he-r boyfriend, she should know better." Emer defends.
"Yah. Just like you knew about your boyfriend almost drowning at Patricia's party few weeks ago. Then had a play fight with him that he was cheating on you with the girl that saved him, cause you met her giving him a CPR." Hayley accidentally mumbles outloud, in a sarcastic tone, from a distance. Which caused the crowd's attention to swipe from Aimy to her direction.
They all turned back to Emer expecting a defense or some kind of rejection, but she kept mute.
"Thought so. Cause even after you saw his wet clothes you still couldn't tell, instead you accused her of..." Hayley added playfully.
She was walking slowly towards them, and trying hard to hide her fury. So, she had to stop, not to end up spilling out too much information.
"I think you get the point." She concluded turning to look at Aimy, who seem to be lost in her own world."Yah, I've gotta go. Sin-ce I know he's ill now, I'd ne-ed to check up on him t-o see how he's fairing. Cause that's what a good friend should do, right?" Aimy finally said, after a long confused glare.
Emer didn't have anything to say, so she decided to just walk away.
On her way off she stopped to whisper to Hayley's hearing.
"I don't know why you're trying to rescue her, but, you better not try this again. Next time you try to meddle, I'll make sure the hole world learn about your little shameful secret, you slot." She concluded, passing her a threatening look, before finally storming off.Patricia passes Hayley a furious glare as well before storming off after her friend. She took a deep breath, then returned back to her sit.
"Come on people. Nothing to see here.
Go do whatever it is you were doing." Lilley yelled, trying to scatter the crowd.* ** *
Aimy stood still, staring from Hayley to Emer; who seemed like she had been caught in a web, cause she couldn't say another word not even to defend herself of the accusation.Aimy's POV
I stared from East to West, north to south in confusion. Caught in a well webbed dilemma, till my head dropped down to my watch. I discovered it was a few minutes to midnight. I had to make an excuse to leave pronto or this party would end up scaring me for more than just one night, since I'd be getting grounded if I missed curfew. Mom was quite clear on the "Don't come back home late, you must be home before midnight" part.
I've to leave amidst this drama, but I couldn't tell them I was leaving cause of my mom says to be back before midnight.
It'd be like;"Sorry, I've gotta go now cause my mom said to be back before midnight." Aimy said leaving
"Oh! What're you, Cinderella?" Patricia asked mockingly
"Just try not to drop your glass slippers on your way out." Somebody in the crowd added mockingly, causing everyone to laugh and chant; Mummy's girl! mummy's girl!
Most certainly couldn't do that.
The drama endowed me with a good one that might just be convincing enough.
So, I turned to Emer and said
"Yah, I've gotta go. Sin-ce I know he's ill now, I'd ne-ed to check up on him t-o see how he's fairing. Cause that's what a good friend should do, right?"Funny enough, I don't even have his number, talk more of his home address.
Emer passed me a gaze of doubt, before storming off. She made a weird pause by Hayley, mumbles something in an inaudible tone, then continued on her way, and Patricia trails after her.
"So, you're just gonna leave your own party?" Lilley asked jokingly
"That shouldn't be a problem, cause technically speaking, it's not.
I didn't put any effort to it. It just got my name on it. Let the throwers enjoy their party." I replied heading out, but I paused to thank Hayley, before finally dashing off to where I had parked my mom's car.I would've thanked them for the party, if they didn't throw it to humiliate me. It's like saying thanks for the humiliation.
I could say that though, if not for the drama that was going on, perhaps I might've said thank you.**********************
Few minutes after Aimy had left..."Should we leave as well?" Hayley asked playing with a glass of wine
"And waste all this good wines, no way." Jessica replied, gauging down her sixth cup.....
