(6 years and 2 months later)
Finally the university! Faith had been dreaming about it for years and finally she was there and not just anywhere. She still couldn't believe it, especially since she had been accepted at Barsch Academy, the best university for werewolves in the world. Barsch Academy was located in the town of Hallhunt which had the specificity of not only having four university campuses in its town but also being the border between five territories, 2 wolf packs, a vampire clan, a wizard convent and a no man's land where the traffic was free. Three universities had their campus in the city: Barsch Academy, Strix Academy - for vampires and Velho University - originally founded by wizards but open to all type of supernatural beings.
Faith also enrolled at Velho University for coding and programming, courses that Barsh Academy did not offer. There she studied law in the candid hope that one day she could make a difference. She got a scholarship to Barsh Academy and didn't have to pay for her enrollment, but she used most of her savings for her enrollment at Velho University. She had found a shity apartment, in the no man land area, located between the two campuses but was just happy to be studying, that the only things that matter. She was eager so to start classes.
Faith had arrived two weeks before the beginning of classes in order to find her apartment and especially a part-time job. Which she had found in a few days on the spot. She got a job as a waitress in a café called the Lubar, located next to the Barsch Academy campus.
Levi, 20, was the future Alpha of the Deepwater pack, one of two packs whose territory extended to the town of Hallhunt. Besides, the prestigious Barsch Academy was located in his pack's territory. It was no surprise that he was a student here in his third year of business management. Levi was a fair and respectful future Alpha. He was always accessible and attentive to his peers. In addition to his studies, he was also a member of the university's football team as wide receiver and this year he would become the team captain. Landon, one of his two Betas - and cousin - was the quarterback. Levi had two Betas because they were twins, a rare occurrence in the wolf community.
Everything was perfect in Levi's life except for one thing and not the least his mate... In fact, the smell of his mate that was supposed to be unique and addictive was the same as a famous perfume... which was a huge problem. He happened to smell his mate several times a day and on several people and after 2 years, five disappointments, false joys and heartbreaks, mates had become a sore subject for him. He even came to hate this common scent that should had been made only for him ans his wolf. He ended up pairing up with his longtime friend Mila, who had felt her mate die before she even met him. Mila had always been a valuable support throughout his life and had been there to pick up the pieces of his heart after each of his love breakdowns. For almost thirteen months, he had been in perfect love with her. It was so simple than to wait for another deception.
Levi had given up the idea of ever meeting the one who was made for him. He knew that the smell was only one of the signs to recognize his mate, he had done research and read dozens of books on this subject. In fact it was only the first sign of his mate. Indeed it was very common that a werewolf was already bewitched by the smell of his mate before the two were old enough to find each other. If a werewolf loved the smell of the wood than it mate will have a smeel of wood. Maybe it was the fact that it would be the smell of it mate that made it irresistible. even before meeting it, who knows...
As for the other signs, there was the sparks that when the werewolf feels while touching it mate, but it was easy to fake the spark with a spell, Levi had learned this the hard way. There was also the fact that the saliva of your mate accelerates your healing, this had allowed him to discover the first over-deception of which he had been victim and the last of the impostors that he had let approach his heart had found a way to cheat him on this sign too. Moreover it was difficult to ask someone you just met to voluntarily hurt themselves to verify the veracity of their mating.
The last sign was that the soul mates were two souls pulsing at the same frequency. Your mate will be a perfect fit in your environement, which Levi had never understood. This sign was very abstract to make sense of and also the least detailed in any of the literature he had read on the subject.
Levi was grateful to be surrounded by loving family and friends. They all helped him to go through it. I was an only child, well not for long anymore as his mother was 5 months pregant. He was reaaly close with his cousins and Betas Lucas and Landon. It was very rare for high ranking wolves to have twins and yet it had happened. He couldn't favor one of them so he named them both as his future Betas. Lucas, his second Beta and cousin, met his mate on his 18th birthday. Indeed, Nova was 9 days older than him and during the party organized in his and Landon's honor, where all the pack had been invited, they had met.
Nova was a discreet young girl endowed with a gifted with clairvoyance that she was struggling to control. Lucas and Landon were 9 months apart from Levi and were going to start their second year at the Barsch Academy. Beta Arya, their mother, was the sister of Alpha Owen, Levi's father. Logan, their father, preferred to keep his position as Gamma and let his mate fulfill her dream of becoming the Beta of the pack, of her brother. Landon, unlike his twin, had not yet had the luck of meeting his mate although he had spent his summer touring the allied packs hoping to find her.
Lucas and Landon had a younger sister Lola who would turn 14 in a month and a half-brother Caleb who their father had had a brief relationship with a vampire. Caleb was the snag in Lucas and Landon's lives... Both of them couldn't stand the hurt look in their mother's eyes everytime she was seeing him.
Caleb was also a student at Basrch Academy, but being a hybrid meant that he was not well accepted by the other students. The fact that he didn't get along well with his two brothers didn't help his popularity rating either. Caleb was a reserve quarterback with them, but Landon and Lucas made sure he didn't play a single game. Caleb had a good relationship with his half-brothers on his mother side, Danika . He had two, Dominic and Bla. But he was seen as a renegade by the rest of the vampires and was not really accepted either there.
By enrolling at the Barsch Academy, he was looking for acceptance by the werewolf but also wanted to build a relationship with his two brothers on his father's side. But Lucas and Landon barely tolerated him.
Faith had lost her parents in a tragic accident, 6 years ago. She had been left alone at a very young age. Her parents being lone wolves, she had never had the support of a pack to help her and had spent her childhood from foster home to fosterhome and running away. Nevertheless, she had never forgotten the infinite love her parents had for her and tha what had guided and motivated her to pursue her path and enroll in college. Faith and Levi had grown up in two completely different universes and these two universes would soon collide for better or worse...
