Faith was glad to have finished her day at the college. Her first day had not gone as she had planned. Well, everything was going well until that stupid Alpha came and disturbed her peace. She hadn't asked anyone for anything and that asshole had the audacity to accuse her of being her mate. As if! The thought of that would never occur to her. Having a mate to share her life with, was not in her goals at all at the moment. As a result, she had been stared at and people were gossiping about her for the rest of the day, which irritated her. She hoped to be in peace at the café and that no one would come and bother her.

An hour after the beginning of her service, a young woman came to sit at one of her tables. She is a beautiful young woman with something mysterious surrounding her. As she approached to take her order, Faith realized that she belonged to the other jerk's pack. She stiffened as she walked towards her table. While being wary, she took her order with all the professionalism she could. Nova, as she had introduced herself, had been smiling and caring, to Faith's great relief. The rest of her service went smoothly.

When she left her shift, Faith was surprised to hear a group of people making fun of someone, calling this person a freak. As she hated bullies, she couldn't help but intervene. She was shocked to discover that it was Nova who was being bullied. She knew that Nora was a high ranking wolf and she seemed very sweet and kind at first glance, so why her?

"You don't act so much on your own, you freak!" One of the boys laughed at her.

"Leave me alone, James!" Nova snapped back at him. Even if her posture seemed clamorous and confident, Faith didn't miss the chance in her voice. And her bullies neither.

" Amuse us, you little fortune teller!" Another boy scoffed.

"Fuck you, Evan!" Nova growled.

"Hey, you morons! Leave her alone!"Faith warned them, making her presence known.

"Mind your own business!" James retorted.

"Smile, you're being filmed! I'm sure her mate will love to see it!" Faith announced with her phone in her hand.

As Evan walked up to Faith, she stepped back and threatened them: "One more step and I'll send him!"

"Let's go. It's not worth it." Said one of the two girls in the group.

Once they were out of her sight, Faith asked Nova if she was okay.

"I'm fine. It's just a bunch of bullshit, they would never dare to attack me physically." Nova responded.

"They shouldn't even bother you verbally. You have a higher rank than them, they owe you respect! You can't let them do that to you!" Faith retorted.

Nova sighed, "I know that! But they've been picking on me my whole high school life. And I have no idea how to stop them. If you think I don't mind threatening them with Lucas to stop, you're barking up the wrong tree!"

"Sorry! I've always hated the bully!" Faith apologized.

"Don't worry and thanks for your help." Nova answered.

"Do you want me to take you home just in case?" Faith offered.

"I'll go this way." Nora answered, pointing in the direction of Faith's apartment.

"Perfect we're going the same way."

The girls started walking in silence. After a few minutes, Faith broke the silence:

"So... Is Lucas your mate? What is his position in the pack."

"He's one of the future Beta's. Levi couldn't choose between him and his twin brother Landon. So they will both come his Betas." Nova explained to her.

"And those dorks are harassing one of the future Beta females!" Faith muttered to herself. Shaking her head she added for Nova this time: "Laugh at their stupidity. They feel like they hold some kind of power over you. If you show them that's not the case, they'll get tired and stop."

"Like it's that easy." Nova huffed.

"Try it! You'll be surprised. They have the power over you that you give them. Just like, they sensed your fear earlier. That's what turns them on." Faith elaborated.

"I will try." Nova conceded.

"If that doesn't work, you can try the technique of a lie hidden in a truth in order to ridicule them. Or at least their leader and it will do the job."

Nova looked at her strangely, "I'm not sure I understand..."

"I'll show you if they bully you and I'm around... I'll never understand why some people like to bully others..."

"They're right, you know... I'm a freak."

"I don't think so!" Faith disagreed.

"I have the misfortune to see the future..." Nova stated.

"Oh, are you a psychic or rather an oracle?" Faith asked curiously.

"Oracle... Although I sometimes have premonitions about my loved ones too."

"Yeah, Oracle kinda sucks. Gods aren't known for leaving clear and precise messages." Faith commented.

"Exactly! It's no fun having visions you can't control at any time either. I got my first message at the age of 6... Freezing in the middle of class and having your eyes roll back doesn't help you making friends or going unnoticed either... They're right I'm a freak!"

"You're not! It may not be the easiest gift to take on but it's still a gift. You are worth carrying the message of the gods, no one else. Be proud of it! People are lucky to have you around! You are not a freak. On the contrary, you are exceptional and unique, that's why they are jealous."

"Thank you!" Nova said, blushing.

Faith laughed: "Besides they're not very clever either, they didn't even notice that I couldn't film with my phone!"

Nova laughed too before they both fell back into silence.

"Do you know the Ange déchu perfume from Louis Valroi?" Nova inquired after several minutes of silence.

"By name. Why?" Faith replied.

"Levi's mate has the same scent." Nova announced, gauging Faith's reaction.

"So what? I don't know why you're telling me all this?" Faith answered, confused.

Nova, whose gift of clairvoyance allowed her to detect when people were lying to her, could only notice that Faith didn't know what she was talking about.

"I'm telling you because it's the perfume you're wearing today.":

"What?" Faith asked, frowning.

Nova also frowned: "Yes that's why Levi got mad at you and rejected you this morning."

There was a moment of silence before Faith replied, " Oh alright... Thanks for clarifying."

"So you didn't do it on purpose?" Nova added but it was more of a rhetorical question.

"He knows that the scent is not the only clue that points you to your mate, right?"

"Yes he knows but he's been fooled. More than once." Nova explained.

Faith stopped because she was in front of her building.

"This is where I live. Are you sure you don't want me to walk you home. We're a little far from your pack's territory." She offered Nova.

Nova shook her head, "No I'm waiting for my mate. But if you don't mind I'd like to wait in the hall. It's cold outside."

"Sure. Do you want to come up?"

"No, I'll give you ten minutes." Nova replied.

"Okay... See you around then." Faith replied, not quite understanding Nova's answer.
