Nevaeh's pregnancy was going very well and Brody was never leaving her side. At first this annoyed her because she thought he was just worried about her safety, but she soon realized that he just didn't want to miss a single minute of the pregnancy. He had quickly adopted habits and little rituals. When he got up in the morning, he'd stroke Nevaeh's growing belly and share his plans for the day. Before leaving the bed, he would tenderly kiss her belly. During the day, whenever he had the chance, he would stroke it, and every night before bed, he would tell a story that came straight from his own mind. This was how Nevaeh discovered Brody's creative side: his imagination knew no bounds, yet there was a plot and a thread running through his story from beginning to end.

He had also insisted that they take haptonomy classes in preparation for the pregnancy. By the second session, a belly massage was part of Nevaeh's bedtime ritual. A bond was already forming between Brody and his children. One of Nevaeh's most moving moments was to feel her babies move and cuddle in their father's hands. Sometimes she could feel them fidgeting just before the massage, eager to feel their daddy's gentle touch.

The only time Brody had behaved like an Alpha male protecting his female was when his parents decided to come for a visit. They knew Brody had remarried. They hadn't been invited to the wedding, which they hadn't been happy about in the first place. Alpha Brett, Brody's father, hadn't forgotten Nevaeh, and although he hadn't seen her since she was a child, he recognized her immediately, objecting to their union. Brody had reacted very badly and chased his father out of his territory. Luna Rosa had succeeded in calming her mate, who apologized to the young couple. Nevaeh remained on her guard in his presence, and so did Brody. The relationship between father and son was therefore strained, but noting Nevaeh's pregnancy and his son's new-found strength, he finally thanked Nevaeh for making his son happy and offering him everything he hadn't been able to experience with his mate. Their relationship remained distant, but a mutual respect existed between Nevaeh and Alpha Brett. Luna Rosa wanted to be present for the birth of the twins, so the couple stayed for the remaining 2 months until the due date.

The birth was tiring for Nevaeh, but both the twins and their mother were healthy, and that's what counted. Sawyer and Evangeline made their parents extremely happy and their father incredibly proud. The Moon Goddess had truly blessed them with a son and a daughter.

Seven years later...

Nevaeh was on her way to the meeting room for a reunion with the pack's high-ranking wolves. When she entered, Beta Chris and Gamma Nolan were already present.

"Alpha!" Beta Chris greeted her, a smirk on his face. He and Nevaeh got along pretty well and enjoyed teasing each other. They didn't use their titles when they were just with each other.

Gamma Nolan greeted her with a wave as he chatted on the phone.

"Chris, Nolan. You know I'm not your Alpha, Chris." Nevaeh replied.

"Really? Because I see you more often than my Alpha these days!" Beta Chris retorted.

"Speaking of your Alpha, where's my husband? He was supposed to spend the day with you." Nevaeh inquired.

"I saw him for 10 minutes this morning to check on things, and then he took off. Something came up at the last minute, apparently..."

"I see..." Nevaeh muttered.

Nevaeh asked the school principal via the mind link if Brody had picked up the children from school. She confirmed that he had picked up the twins 30 minutes after school had started.

Nevaeh sighed: "He really has to stop making them miss school. They can't miss so many days and since he's the Alpha, no one dares say no to him."

Beta Chris chuckled: "You can talk, you're the first to ever say no to him."
