"We'll finish this discussion after the meeting. You're not alone, and we'll think about all this together," Levi promised her.
"Alpha Benedict. We are just in time," Levi greeted his colleague solemnly.
"Alpha Benedict," Nevaeh greeted respectfully but with a stern face. She had a bad feeling about this meeting.
Once again, some of the Alphas were showing hostility towards Nevaeh and her ability to lead a pack properly. As usual, Levi vehemently defended Nevaeh, to the point where the discussion was escalating into an argument. Amidst this heated debate, no one noticed in time that Alpha Jordan had pulled out a revolver. He aimed it at Nevaeh.
"What are you doing, Alpha Jordan!" Alpha Keith exclaimed, drawing everyone's attention to Alpha Jordan.
"She's too dangerous! Allowing her to lead a pack any longer will inspire other Luna. She must be stopped before she causes our downfall!" Alpha Jordan declared before pulling the trigger.
"No!" Levi shooted, throwing himself in front of Nevaeh to shield her with his own body.
Alpha Simon, standing to the right of Alpha Jordan, disarmed him. When Nevaeh smelled Levi's blood, she lost control of her wolf and transformed. She lunged at Alpha Jordan, killing him before anyone could react. All present Alphas were shocked to see Nevaeh's wolf form—the first of their kind. Even Alpha Benedict, who knew Nevaeh was an Alpha, was amazed to see her wolf for the first time.
Nevaeh returned to Levi, who was suffering from the wound. She licked the wound and immediately felt the burning sensation of poison on her tongue. She contacted Avery, Scarlett, Caleb, and Landon through their mental link. They were already on alert, sensing a shift in power. Within seconds, they were by their side, along with Lucas and Nova.
"Stop the poison's progression!" She begged Scarlett.
"Transform, Nev, please!" Levi asked her.
Landon removed his sweatshirt to hand it to Nevaeh. Avery and Caleb shielded her from prying eyes until she returned to her human form.
"Why did you do that? That bullet was meant for me!" she asked.
"Because I can't live without you either, and your mission here isn't over. You're more important than I am," Levi replied, his voice twisted with pain.
"The bullet didn't exit. Can you remove it?" Nevaeh asked Scarlett.
"No, not in this area. It's too risky, but I've stopped the poison's progression. We need to get him to the hospital immediately."
"Don't leave me, my love! Promise me!" she begged Levi, tears streaming down her cheeks.
"I'll do everything I can, but the bullet is silver, and I'm already weakening," Levi admitted.
"If we mark each other, it might help you heal!"
"Nevaeh... I don't want it to be like this between us."
"Then you'll mark me again on your terms."
"She's right; it would help you," Alpha Benedict intervened.
"Do it, then. You first," Levi agreed. His strength was fading, and even though he didn't say it, he knew he wouldn't have the strength to mark her back. But he had long desired to bear her mark, even for a brief moment.
He looked at Caleb, Landon, and Lucas. "I'm counting on you to implement the Hathor plan." They all nodded.
Nevaeh wasted no time and tore open Levi's shirt collar to mark him. He accepted her mark willingly, but the pain made him lose consciousness.
