The children changed into their uniforms - an itchy, tight white shirt with a green tie and green jumper. Klaus and Rowan had to wear itchy grey trousers, whilst Violet had to wear tights and a very long skirt. Sunny wore the same as Violet, but with a horrible blue badge saying 'Orphan Administrative Assistant'.

They arrived at lunch and were instantly met with a girl. She had ginger hair and green eyes. She was wearing the uniform, like the four orphans, but she did not have her tie on and she was wearing a nicer version of the uniform.

"I'm the one that wrote that letter!" she instantly screamed.

"Well, thank you, um-" Violet said hesitantly.

"Um? Um! I have a name! And it is..." she got into a fancy pose. "Carmelita Spats!"

"Well, thank you, Carmelita." said Klaus, not really meaning it at all.

"Thank you is not enough!" shouted Carmelita. "I want a tip!"

"We don't have money." said Rowan truthfully. "Well, not any money that we can use."

Carmelita moved closer to them. "I don't care!"

"We can't give you a tip if we don't have any money." explained Klaus to the 13-year-old girl that was currently acting like a 5-year-old.

"Ooh, so you're cakesniffers?"

"I've never heard of that word before." said Klaus politely, desperately wanting to scream at the girl.

"So you are cakesniffers!" said Carmelita. "Look, everyone! Cakesniffing orphans!"

Everyone then began to repeat the same chant over and over again.

"Cakesniffing orphans in the orphan shack! Cakesniffing orphans in the orphan shack! Cakesniffing orphans in the orphan shack! Cakesniffing orphans in the orphan shack! Cakesniffing orphans in the orphan shack! Cakesniffing orphans in the orphan shack! Cakesniffing orphans in the orphan shack! Cakesniffing orphans in the orphan shack!"

"Leave them alone, Carmelita!" shouted a boy. "You're the real cakesniffer anyway."

The boy was quite tall and looked about Rowan's age. He had hair so black it made the night look pale, and very dark eyes. He looked kind, and the children liked him instantly. He had a dark green book poking out of his pocket. Then, a girl walked over. She looked almost identical to the boy, except for her slightly longer fringe and slightly different face, although she still looked kind. She also had a book in her pocket, although hers was black.

"Come and sit with us." said the girl kindly.

They did exactly that.

"Hi." said the boy. "Sorry about Carmelita."

"That's okay." said Klaus, glancing at Violet. They were both thinking that this was eerily similar to the time they had met Rowan, and he had apologised about Count Olaf's abusive behaviour.

"I'm Isadora Quagmire, and this is my brother Duncan." said the girl.

"I'm Violet Baudelaire and these are my siblings Klaus and Sunny." said Violet.

"And I'm Rowan White." said Rowan. "I'm technically the Baudelaires' adoptive brother."

"It's nice to meet you twins." said Violet.

The two siblings instantly frowned.

"What's wrong?" asked Violet, worried about what she had said to upset them.

"We're not twins." said Duncan quietly. "We're triplets. We lost our home, brother, and parents in a terrible fire."

Klaus' jaw dropped. "I'm sorry about your brother, but... we lost our home and parents in a terrible fire."

"I lost my home and parents in a terrible fire." said Rowan slowly.

Violet, Klaus, Sunny, Rowan, Isadora, and Duncan said nothing after that but simply stared at one another.

"Something strange is going on." said Violet at last.
