BEATRIX
Project Seraphim—
I almost leaned into him to catch his eyes if they fell from their sockets. I literally didn't have any idea why he was in utter shock right now. It looked like a flash of lightning had struck him where he sat and lost all his motor abilities. He gazed at my phone like he just couldn't believe what he was seeing. What was with that logo, anyway? It was just a huge circle with triangles and shapes and letters carved on it.
"Prof?" I called. "Are you okay? Is everything alright?"
"Are you certain—absolutely certain—that it's the logo you've seen?" Halatang-halata ang pag-aalinlangan sa kaniyang boses. It was a stupid question, honestly. He saw the picture and yet he still couldn't believe it. But I didn't voice it out.
May mali nga rito sa logong 'to. At kailangan kong malaman kung ano 'yon.
"Prof?
"Wait here."
"What I'm going to tell you is very important and I will only say it to you once. This is a secret no one—my students, my friends, and my colleagues—knows and it's only you who I'll share it with." "Do not tell it to anyone."
It left me no choice but to nod at him. Nervousness and excitement flared inside me, feeding my curiosity. This was it. The answer I was vying for.
"This is the logo you saw, right?" "Although it's a government agency emblem, not everyone knows what that entails and what it represents. It belongs to the Philippine Central Research Facility. The only information about the organization available to the public is its existence. No one knows what it does, what happens inside its walls, and where it is located. Only the employees, of course."
