GIOVANNI DELUCA

I was nice and comfortable, in my warm bed. No sounds. No disturbances. Just simple peace, quiet and comfort. However, all of that was changed in an instant.

"Tell your Uncle to wake up!" I heard Tessa say as my eyes remained closed.

"Say, wake up Uncle G! C'mon Tino!" she continued to encourage him as I partially pretended to still be sleep. Tino didn't do as she said though. Good job, nephew.

My peace was at last, diminished as I felt tiny hands abruptly slapping my face.

"Good job, Tino!" Tessa praised him.

"No, bad job Tino." I groaned, finally sitting up, pulling Tino off of my chest where he sat.

"You did it Tino! Yay!" Tessa started clapping and Tino followed her lead.

"What time is it?" I asked, rubbing sleep out of my eyes.

"Hopefully it's time for breakfast. Right buddy?" she looked at Tino who was propped up, on her hip.

"Breakfast should be done? Where are the maids?" they should've been her a while ago. We've been here for a few days and I finally go everything situated. So where are they?

"I have no clue. The only other people here are the guards."

Weird.

"Okay. You two, wait downstairs. I'll figure out what's going on."

I watched as Tessa and Tino left the room. Honestly, seeing the way she interacts with him is very heart warming. She's so gentle and calm when it comes to him. We've barely been here for a week and they've already become best friends.

After a very quick shower, I threw on some joggers and a t-shirt opposed to my usual blazer and dress pants. On my way downstairs I called Andrea to get some answers as him and Leo are in a separate wing of the house.

"H-Hello boss, what can I help you with." he pathetically stuttered, sounding like a scared child.

"Andrea, where are the maids?" I questioned.

"Oh, they called out sick, sir."

"Well, where are the interim maids?" I questioned further as we should be prepared for these situations.

"Uh-"

"Spit it out, Andrea."

"They called in sick as well."

What the fuck is going on?

Without taking my frustrations out on Andrea, I simply hung up the phone. I guess we'll make breakfast ourselves. How bad can it be?

FLASHBACK

Tessa and I had been together for two whole days. I slept over her house each night that weekend. She didn't have the most caring parents, so we could do things like that. They had left to go on vacation, leaving her behind. She always had bad dreams about her fathers continuous abuse, especially when she was alone. For that reason, I definitely wasn't leaving her to deal with them by herself.
