GIOVANNI DELUCA
After a fairly short flight, the pilot informed me that we'd be landing in just a few minutes. I thanked him and tipped him well before realizing that I had to wake Tessa up.
She looks so peaceful. To me, she's always held a sense of peace. Even in her worst moments.
"Tess." I whispered, lifting her head off of my shoulder.
"We're here."
"Leave me alone Gio, I'm trying to sleep." she pushed me away with force. Damn, this girl is strong.
"Alright, you've left me with no other choice." I shrugged before attacking her with tickles.
"Okay, Okay. I'm up, asshole." she came down from her fit of laughter.
"Leo! Sveglia il ragazzo." I sighed, gesturing towards Andrea who was asleep with what appeared to be drool coming out of his mouth.
(Wake the kid up.)
"Why do you call him a kid? He's older than you isn't he." Tess asked, followed by a yawn.
"You understood me?" I was shocked at how she could understand as I spoke in Italian.
"Gio, I picked up some things in high school."
"Well, he's only a year older and he acts like a child. I call it as I see it." I shrugged, helping Tessa up as it was now time to get off of the plane and into the car that will take us to the safe house.
Tessa knows that we're going there, but she doesn't know what I have waiting for her there.
We got into the car where my driver waited for us as Leo and Andrea loaded the bags into the car.
I looked over at Tessa who was looking back at me with confusion.
"What?" I asked.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" she searched my face, trying to find an answer.
I gave no response. I simply continued looking at her without breaking eye contact. She studied my expression as if she was attempting to crack a code. I will forever wonder what goes on in that pretty little head of hers
"Oh my god..." she blurted out, leaving me confused.
"What?"
"Giovanni Marcelo DeLuca...You're hiding something from me!" she playfully slapped me on the chest causing slight pain. Why do girls slap so hard? Ouch.
"Remember when you bought a birthday gift for me in fifth grade and gave it to me five days early because you couldn't hide it?" she asked, making me laugh as I recalled the memory.
"Yes, I do."
"You've never been able to hide things from me." she smiled as if she thought she knew what my surprise was.
