"H-Hello?"

"Hey, Alec."

"Uhm, w-who is it?"

"Caleb's friend, Jacob."

"W-W-What?"

"We've met. You were not so conscious, though. You know, you got three days l-..."

Alec hung up, pale and breathing hard. He could feel the panic attack approaching. He felt someone take his hand and place it on their chest. He felt their chest rising and falling regularly and he looked up at them: Magnus.

He tried breathing just like his boyfriend and after some minutes he made it, getting his breath back to normal. Sadly, this was something that happened very often.

"When you're ready to talk, you answer me, hm?" Magnus said, interrupting Alec's train of thoughts. "Who called you, darling?"

As if the phone heard him, it rang again, the same number as before appeared on the screen. Alec let out a small whimper and kicked the phone off the bed as he closed his eyes. He got close to Magnus, trembling.

Why was a friend of Caleb's calling him? Alec didn't remember him. He had said they had met, but Alec hadn't been fully conscious. What did that mean? Alec couldn't remember. He gripped the blankets tightly.

He felt the warmth coming off from Magnus' body and he tried to think about that. Magnus' bare skin was always hot. He was not wearing a shirt, so Alec had his face pressed against his naked torso, breathing slightly fast.

The phone was still ringing on the floor. It made Chairman Meow wake up and meow annoyed. He jumped off the bed and went to the phone. Magnus, who had put his book down some minutes ago, the moment Alec had received the first call, patted Alec's back, letting him silently know that he was going to get up.

Alec reluctantly let go of him, hugging his pillow instead. He was a bit of in a trance, while he watched Magnus stand up and go to Alec's phone on the carpeted floor, where Chairman Meow was sitting as he awaited for someone to turn off the vibration.

"Hello? Who is this?"

"Who are you?"

"I'm Alec's boyfriend. He can't talk right now. Who are you?"

"Alec's boyfriend? Damn, careful or you'll end up dead, too."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"You know what he did to his ex, Caleb."

"Alec has never killed anyone. Why are you calling him, anyway?" Magnus asked, annoyed. This wasn't the first call Alec got about this.

"Just wanted to remind Alec about something."

And with that, he hung up. Magnus stood there, frowning down at Alec's phone. Alec was hidden under the sheets, shaking while he hugged Magnus' pillow. The cat-eyed man put his boyfriend's phone down on his night stand and slid under the sheets behind Alec.

"Alexander, who was that, darling?" He whispered, rubbing his back soothingly.

He knew Alec needed his time, so he patiently waited a short while until Alec felt ready to talk. He never turned around to look at Magnus, though; he had his face pressed against the pillow.

"J-Just-Just s-so-some-someone h-he k-knew." He stuttered out, in between deep breaths; Alec was still working on being able to talk about Caleb and actually say his name. There were times when he couldn't pronounce the word. Now was one of them.

"He said he wanted to remind you of something. Do you know what he was talking about?"

Alec gave a silent nod. He didn't say anything. He suddenly turned around and slid close to Magnus. He needed his protection. The sheets and blankets around him were not enough. He needed Magnus' arms wrapped around his body.
