Chapter 8:

(3rd Person's POV)

Lacy and Tony got out of the car and walked up to transparent door and opened it, to be sprung by cold air. Tony walked to the front desk with Lacy's hand in his.

"Hello..." Tony looked at the blonde in her mid-age's nametag and it read-" Sherry. We're here to see Jack Lancaster."

Sherri eyed Tony and Lacy skeptically. "And, who're you guys?"

"Well, I'm his sister Lacy Lancaster, and this is-"

"Her boyfriend Tony Cossack." He held out his hand and Sherri eyed it for a second before reaching out and shaking it. "Nice to meet you both but unfortunately, you're too late. Jack Lancaster was checked out of Crestville Institute 24 hours ago."

"By whom?"

Sherry glared at the both of them before chewing on the gum she had in her mouth. She looked around for his file as they watched her. Tony gave Lacy a small comforting smile that made her reciprocate it. Finally, Sherry found his file and swung her chair back to the front desk, closer to them. "Ah-ha! There we go. Jack Lancaster was checked out by a Mia Fields."

Lacy shook her head as she raced out the door in the highest heels of life. Tony chased after her as she was already in the car. He got in and looked her in shock.

"Of course...of freaking course this would happen, yet I didn't see it coming! I was so close. 24 hours ago I would've seen my brother who haven't seen in over 3 years."

"I'm sorry Lace." He grabbed her hand and kissed it before bringing it down to his thigh and resting it there as he started the car. "What do you wanna do now?"

"I wanna find Mia to see my brother." Tony nodded his head and backed the car out and exited the parking lot.

Dr. Pena had Violet had gone to lunch at Violet's favorite restaurant in Crestville. They talked for 2 hours about anything that came to mind. Then, they went to the park and played on the playground, being silly. They went on the 2 swings and talked about their past relationships.

"So, Benny was a gambler?"

"Yes, for as long as I could remember. He always gambled. He was addicted and I knew that would be the cause of our downfall. When we were 13, I thought it was fun and he'd eventually grow out of it. But, when we turned 18, I found out he gambled illegally every night at various secluded places. One day he brought me, and I'll never forget that day."

"Why?"

"He had won the game but the other players didn't agree so they threatened to beat him up if he hadn't let them have get their money back." Dr. Pena cringed. "Benny told them he didn't care what they did to me because he was gonna keep the money. It turns out one the players was a cop so he ended up showing his badge and we all tried to make a run for it but the place was already surrounded." Benny served some time and when he came out, he tried to apologize but I couldn't bring myself to forgive what he said and what he would've let them do to me if there was a cop there." A tear fell from her eyes. "What about you and Tony?"
