Chapter 16:
(3rd Person's POV)
Violet walked in Crestville Senior High with the biggest scowl ever. She had her shades on to hide the pain revealed in her eyes from last night. She had gone to Crestville Park to meet Chuck just like he told her to and he never showed up. She waited at that park for 3 hours. Each hour that past she kept telling herself "He's just running a little late due to traffic. He'll be here soon." Finally, after the third hour her parents convinced her to come home instead of wait at a park at night by herself. She was beyond hurt he'd just stood her up. She started contemplating if she had done something wrong for him to just not show up last night. It's not like him to do something like that to her. Maybe, the distance they had was what they need so she can open her eyes. Violet walked over to her locker and put her things in it and she took out what she needed for her 1st period. Whispering was heard throughout the hall. Violet turned around to see where it was coming from. It was from a bunch of students looking at Lacy and Tony walking down the hall like if it was a runway, hand in hand. Violet breathed deeply, remembering when it was Tony and her walking down the halls together and everyone was staring. Tony and Lacy walked right by Violet like they hadn't noticed her when they both know they did. Violet bit the insides of her cheeks and slammed her locker shut "When you fucking need a cigarette. Fuck." She mumbled to herself.
K and Laur walked up to her.
"Hey hun." Laur hugged Violet.
"Sup biach." K kissed her cheek. "What's up?"
"Not me. I'm completely down."
"What's wrong?" Laur asked.
"Yesterday my sentence was over and me and Chuck could see again but when we agreed to see each other at the park, he didn't show. He had me waiting out there 3 hours and for what? Nothing." Violet removed her shades from her eyes and moved it above her head, sitting on her head, pushing her hair back. "Look at me. I'm a fucking mess!"
"Shit! You are." K wiped the tear falling down Violet's clear face. "Want me to talk to the fucker?"
Violet smiled a bit before crying some more and shook her head. "Nahh. He doesn't deserve it. I'm sure he had a perfectly reasonable excuse for why he didn't make it." Violet combed her fingers through her hair. "Or at least, I hope he does."
The bell rang and as people were making their way to class the PA System came on.
"G'morning Crestville High! It's your student body president and lead anchor on Crestville Live and I have very important announcements this morning on your way to your first period. First off, Winter Formal is in a week and I know everyone's excited for it. So, go find you date and buy your perfect outfits for the unforgettable night. There will be a winter formal Ice Queen and King, so let the voting begin. Here are the nominees you guys chose for Prom King..." Violet walked into her class and sat down next to some random because K was deciding to skip first period. "Taylor Daniels, Matthew Mcken..." Everyone was cheering for who they liked. Tyrese Berry, Tony Cossack..." Tony by far had the loudest and most cheering. Violet rolled her eyes. "And finally, yours truly Myka Cornell." For Prom Queen we have..."
Violet turned to the girl behind her and asked her for some gum. "Mia Fields, Tamika Young..." The girl actually had and gave her a piece. Violet smiled. "Thanks." She removed the wrapper from the gum and inserted it into her mouth. "Kaley Reed." Violet choked on her gum.
"The fuck!" Violet screamed. K stormed into the class.
"That's what I said!" K laughed her way next to Violet. She told the girl next to Violet to get up and took her seat. she walked to her first class of the day.
