Edith returned to Hogwarts as a Professor the day before the Yule Ball. As she did when she was pregnant with Juliet, she'd return home every day after classes unless she had other work or meetings with students.
Regulus was probably the most excited since he could have a getaway from all the children. He'd been in bloody cat form for months. Only time he was himself was when Harry and/or Ron had their dorm to themselves.
Edith helped Juliet, Hermione, Luna, and Ginny all prepare for the ball. They configured the inside of Juliet's private dorm into a dressing room for all of them.
"I remember my first ball. I put on quite the show." Edith said as she attempted to tame Hermione's hair with a series of potions and spells.
"Oh really? What did you do, Professor?" Hermione asked. Edith had told her multiple times to call her Edith, but Hermione resisted.
"Its a good story." Juliet interrupted. "Mama was secretly shagging Snivellus, the Marauders found out, Uncle Prongs and Uncle Padfoot hexed him to high hell, Mama got mad and cut them all off."
Edith slightly rolled her eyes at her daughters verbiage. "Then, to get revenge, i started fake dating Severus. Went to the ball in Slytherin Green and spent the entire night with a bunch of snakes."
Ginny shivered. "Still can't get over you were with Professor Snape."
"He was a good person, once upon a time. I found out some secrets about him, and that was it for us." Edith finally managed to tame Hermione's hair, putting it in a beautiful updo with some crystals throughout. "Ronald will wish he was Viktor tonight."
Hermione smiled sadly. She wished Ron was Viktor too.
"With this dress, I wish I was Viktor." Juliet commented, holding up Hermione's periwinkle dress.
"As if! You have Cedric Diggory as your date tonight." Ginny said as she finished up her makeup. "You two are the talk of the Great Hall. Well, the talk of the Twins mainly."
Juliet groaned, hanging Hermione's dress back up. "Don't remind me. Fred still hasn't apologized and i can't even stand to look at George."
"He hasn't made any comments too, has he? I'll beat him up for you." Ginny held up her fists, making the rest of the girls laugh.
"No, he hasn't. Just... other reasons." Juliet glanced to her mother, who was the only person in the room that knew George was her mate.
"Alright!" Edith clapped her hands together. "Lets get you lasses into your dresses and out to your dates, shall we?"

Edith arrived at the ball early, as one of the chaperones. She wore fancier dress robes that were Euphemia's, back in her day. She had to configure them to fit her.
Crookshanks sat on top of a table, watching over the crowds of students as they piled in. The cat was far more intrigued when he saw Harry enter, waiting on his date.
"Merlin... he really looks like James." Edith's eyes caught something silver on Harry's ring finger. "Is that..?"
"My wedding ring. I still have the engagement ring on, but i wanted him to have something of James'." Crookshanks responded in Edith's mind, having to use a bit of wandless legilimency.
She smiled sadly as Harry and Ron talked. "I think Lils and James were buried with their rings. There... wasn't a funeral. We were ran out to America before they were even in the ground." She reached a hand over, running her fingers though Crookshanks' thick fur. "James would have loved this. You know how much he loved to dress up."
