Chapter 6 - The Great River

I slung my quiver over my shoulder and made sure that my daggers were sheated on my belt properly. I also checked to see if the one in my boot was still there. I always kept a knife in my boot just in case anything were to happen and I didn't have my other weapons. I followed the rest of the fellowship towards a small harbor with trees surrounding it. The sun shined brightly on the water and I sighed, I didn't really want to leave such a beautiful place. But I had to. As I looked around me, I felt another memory of my time here come into my mind. It was only a few seconds. A beautiful elf was looking at me with a small smile and tears stained her eyes. My mother... I shut my eyes for a few seconds before following the others. I had to remember why I was here. I had to follow the others to Mordor and destroy the ring once and for all. Lady Galadriel and Lord Celeborn were waiting for us there.

"Never before have we clad strangers in the garb of our own people." Lord Celeborn said as we all arrived in front of them. "May these cloaks help shield you from unfriendly eyes."

Elves came towards us and handed us green cloaks made of a strong fabric. These would definitely keep us warm and dry for the rest of the journey. The Lady of Light walked towards Legolas and gave him a beautiful longbow and I gasped slightly at the sight of it. It was truly beautiful.

"My gift for you, Legolas, is a bow of the Galadhrim. Worthy of the skill of our woodland kin." She said as Legolas looked at the bow in wonder.

"To you, Aearel, I also give a bow of the Galadhrim. May this help you all along this quest." She told me and I smiled slightly at her before she walked towards Merry and Pippin and gave them nice daggers.

"These are the daggers of the Noldorin. They have already seen service in war. Do not fear, young Peregrin Took. You will find your courage." She told them and gave something to Sam beside them.

"And for you, Samwise Gamgee, Elven rope made of hithlain."

"Thank you, my lady. Have you run out of those nice, shiny daggers?" He asked her and I smiled as Galadriel did not respond to him and just walked to Gimli.

"And what gift would a dwarf ask of the Elves?" She asked him.

"Nothing. Except to look upon the lady of the Galadhrim one last time, for she is more fair than all the jewels beneath the earth." He told her and I smiled even more. Galadriel laughed as Gimli turned away, but he turned around again and looked at her.

"Actually, there was one thing. No, no, I couldn't. Its quite impossible. Stupid to ask..." He mumbled to himself but I heard him clearly, although I did not hear what he asked for.

"I have nothing greater to give than the gift you already bear." Lady Galadriel told Aragorn as she touched the Evenstar necklace around his neck. "Am meleth dîn, i ant e guil Arwen Undómiel pígatha."

"Aníron i e broniatha, ad ae periatham athar i methid en-amar hen. Aníron i e círatha na Valannor." Aragorn replied and I felt a little sad about the idea that Arwen might be leaving middle-earth, and that I would probably never see her again.

"That choice is yet before her. You have your own choice to make, Aragorn. To rise above the height of all you fathers since the days of Elendil, or to fall into darkness with all that is left of your kin. Namárië. Nadath nâ i moe cerich. Dan, ú-'eveditham, Elessar." She told him and walked towards Frodo.

"Farewell, Frodo Baggins. I give you the light of Elendil, our most beloved star. May it be a light for you in dark places, when all other lights go out."

I was preparing the boats with the others when Legolas pulled something out of a bag that the Elves had given us. I smiled at the sight of it.
