Never stop

The car pulled up into the drive way of my big house. the purple door brings me comfort as I clamp by hand around the door knob. The tall building of our stable looms in the hills over the distance. we have one arena outside and just five stalls. One of the stalls is for Rebel, but my mom is a vet for horses so the other four stay empty for her check ups. I feel my head hurt the longer I look at the stable. in the distant pasture I can just see the black outline of a black horse. my heart skips a beat. It's Rebel. blindly I swing open the door and fly up stairs to my room. I don't even know what I'm doing when I slip into my paddock boots. going to see Rebel. I turn once I have my boots on and am surprised to see my mom leaning in the door way. I stare at her, my lips dry. then she smiles. I know that smile, and she's not mad.
"I'll go get him in his stall for you." if anyone knows me too well, it's my mom. she always knows I miss horses, even if I won't admit it. I guess that's why she came to visit me in the hospital, she knew I still loved Rebel so she just tried.
"Thanks." I finally say. Say something else! "I'm sorry about what happened in the car this morning". my mom steps into my room and hugs me.
"It's alright, I know you've been through a lot." I smile.
"Can I bring an apple?" I ask. my mom nods and walks downstairs and out of the house to the pasture. I walk downstairs a little while after her. I grab an apple from the big wooden bowl filled with red apples on the center of our table, and walk outside. The grass crunches under my feet as I enter the building. my mom is stroking an all to familiar black gelding head. this is it. I step to the stall and my mom steps back, leaving me alone. he seems fine... I look at his face and then I see the whites in his eyes. I step back but I'm too late. Rebel rears, knocking me back into the wall.
