Mera calmly walked into Charms wearing a gray hoodie with a lesbian pride badge on it, which caused a few people to stare at her, to which she had brushed off. Rowan then waved to Mera, and gestured for her to sit next to her, which surprised Mera slightly by the fact that Rowan continued to try to socialize with her. Mera decided to give in, and she sat down next to Rowan.

Mera: ( to Rowan: ) Are you sure that you're completely sane?

Rowan: ( thinks that Mera is joking ) Yes. I'm completely sane, Mera.

Mera then turned her attention to Professor Flitwick as Class was beginning.

Professor Flitwick: Welcome to your very first Charms Class at Hogwarts. I will be your instructor, Professor Flitwick. Please pay close attention to the instructions, and take great care practicing the spells you learn. Today we will be learning a very important spell known as the Wand-Lighting Charm. This charm is useful in dark places, whether you are searching a shadowy room for hidden dangers... Or trying to find a scroll that rolled under the sofa. Lumos!

Professor Flitwick pulled out his wand and cast the charm, making a ball of light appear from his wand. Mera started listening and learning about the Lumos spell, ignoring the background of her peers.

Professor Flitwick: Now you try it. Remember... " Lumos! "

Mera then noticed that the other students started to cast the charm, which made her worry about what would happen if she cast it, but she knew that she doesn't have a choice.

Rowan: ( noticed Mera's worry ) ( whispers to Mera, with slight concern: ) Are you okay, Mera? What's wrong?

Mera: ( whispers back to Rowan, blankly: ) Nothing.

Mera then pulled out her wand and took a deep breath.

Mera: Lumos!

When Mera casted the spell, the ball of light was slightly bigger and brighter than everyone else's, which caused some of the students near her, including Rowan to cover their eyes. Professor Flitwick was amazed by this, as he has never seen anything like this before. Mera quickly stopped the spell out of worry for if it'll get bigger and brighter the longer she casts it.

Professor Flitwick: ( ahem ) Well done, Miss Spelling. In all my years of teaching, I have never seen a Wand-Lighting Charm like that before. Ten points to Slytherin.

Rowan: ( to Mera: ) Nice work, Mera! I read everything I could find on the Wand-Lighting Charm, and yours is extraordinary. You must be really powerful.

Mera: ( blankly: ) No. I'm just average. Nothing more, nothing less. Anyway, Potions is next. I do believe facing Snape won't be so easy, but we'll have to manage.

Rowan: Okay, see you there, Mera.

Cut to the dungeons. As Mera was walking to Potions with a blank expression, she saw that Rowan was with another Slytherin girl with somewhat messy hair, who looked to be bothering her.

Mera: ( thoughts: ) Is that the Rowan girl again? Oh, dear. I best go handle this before it starts affecting my studies.

Mera started walking towards Rowan and the Slytherin girl with a blank and emotionless expression.
