Mera walked into Charms Class with a blank expression, and she noticed that Ben wasn't in class and that some of the students were whispering to each other. She sat down in her seat next to Rowan, and she quickly knew that Rowan was hiding something due to the nervous expression on her face.
Rowan: ( tries not to look nervous, and tries to act like nothing's wrong ) ( to Mera: ) I heard Merula say she has a shard of cursed ice. Do you think she's telling the truth?
Mera: ( blankly and honestly: ) What I think is that you are hiding something from me.
Rowan: ( lying: ) What? No! Why would I lie to you, Mery.
Mera raised a brow at Rowan with her arms crossed as she looked at Rowan with her blue eyes without saying a word.
Rowan: ( laughs nervously ) Oh, look, class is beginning!
Mera looked at Rowan with her stern expression, as she was finding Rowan's behavior suspicious, before she turned her attention to Professor Flitwick.
Professor Flitwick: Welcome, class. Today, we will be learning Engorgio. The Engorgement charm is the counter-charm to the Shrinking Charm, causing the target to grow or swell. I expect all of you to demonstrate maturity and restraint while casting this spell. Let us begin.
After awhile of taking notes, and learning the wand movements.
Professor Flitwick: Now, practice at your seat.
Mera: ( thoughts: ) This isn't going to go very well... Sometimes I really hate the effects my magic has on normal spells.
Mera waited until the rest of the class had practiced the spell at their seats, before she pulled out her wand.
Mera: ( to Rowan: ) You might want to back up a little...
Rowan: ( confused ) Okay...?
Rowan backed up a few inches away. Mera took a deep breath before she cast the spell on the cauldron in front of her.
Mera: Engorgio!
When she cast the spell the cauldron grew two times bigger than the other students', causing it to fall off the table. Professor Flitwick and the entire class were in shock, and Flitwick was beginning to wonder as to why every spell Mera has learned in his class seems to be stronger than the other students'.
Professor Flitwick: Well done, Miss Spelling. You continue to impress, but may I have a word with you after class?
Mera: Yes, sir..
When the class was finished, Rowan was a bit worried about leaving Mera, but Mera gave her a somewhat reassuring look. Professor Flitwick then walked to Mera once the class left to go to their next class.
Professor Flitwick: Miss Spelling, it has just concur to me that with every spell you learn in this class they always seem to be more powerful than the other students'. Do you have any clue as to why?
Mera: ( lies, smoothly: ) No, sir.
Professor Flitwick: ( can tell that Mera is lying ) Uhm... Alright, you may go to your next class, Miss Spelling. But, I hope you will trust me enough to tell me the truth.
