Mera walked into the common room the morning after she, Rowan, and Merula tried to investigate the Upstairs Corridor, and saw that Merula was getting scolded by Felix for losing House points for Slytherin. Mera decided to calm down the situation as she didn't want the noise to give her a headache because to her, it was too early to deal with this.

Merula: ( to Felix, with slight annoyance: ) Calm down, Felix, I'll find a way to get our House Points back.

Felix: ( to Merula: ) You better. Everyone in Slytherin is suffering for your poor decisions. I expected Mera to be acting like this, but so far she's the one gaining House Points, because she knows when to hold her tongue. You're ruining any chance we have of winning the House Cup.

Mera: ( stands beside the two ) ( blankly: )Alright, you two, settle down. No need to be loud this early. What can Merula do to do better?

Felix: ( was slightly confused by Mera's actions, but chose to brush it off ) Go to class, focus on her schoolwork, and do everything in her power to earn more house points. I know it will be difficult for her, but stay out of trouble.

Mera: ( Blankly: ) I'll make sure she will.

Felix: Mera, why are you-

Mera: ( calmly and blankly: ) Me and Merula have put aside our differences and she had asked me to help her better herself, which I have agreed to do.

Merula: Yeah. There'll be no more fights or arguments between me and my new friend, Mera.

Mera: ( blankly: ) We aren't friends, we are somewhere above the acquaintance zone and below the friend zone, Merula. Now, come on, can't be late for class.

Mera and Merula then walked out of the Slytherin Common room, leaving Felix and the few other Slytherins that were in their buffed and some of them couldn't believe what they heard. Once Mera and Merula were out of the Common room, Mera gently smacks Merula on the back of her head.

Merula: Ow! What was that for?

Mera: ( to Merula, sternly with a serious expression: ) If you want to learn any of the spells I know, you must earn my trust by showing me that you're serious about this, aka behaving and earning points for Slytherin instead of losing 'em. Each time I hear you have done something to lose points, you'll get a smack on the back of your head, understood? Good. Now, if you want to learn some spells from me today, you know what to do to earn that knowledge.

Merula: Is the smack on the back of the head necessary?

Mera: Yes. Especially for you, because let's be frank, you rarely listen to what anyone has to say. Now, if you excuse me, I have to get to class, which is what you should be doing right now.

Mera then walked away from Merula with a blank expression as she began heading to Charms Class. Merula groaned in frustration before she began to start heading to her first class.

When Mera walked into Charms Class, Professor Flitwick went up to her.

Professor Flitwick: ( to Mera: ) You are excused from today's lesson, Miss Spelling.

Mera: ( blankly with a raise brow, to Professor Flitwick: ) May I ask why?

Professor Flitwick: Today's spell is the Knockback Jinx. It is sometimes used in duelling, and can be incredibly painful to its victim. Given to what I heard about what some of the students are saying about your spells being stronger than normal, I feel that it's best to not give you another duelling spell.

Mera: ( blankly and honestly: ) I understand your decision. I rather focus on my studies than participating in duels anyway.

Professor Flitwick: Your humility and self-awareness lead me to believe that you would understand. Please take a seat.

Mera then took a seat next to Rowan, and opened one of her spell books as Professor Flitwick talked to the rest of the class.

Professor Flitwick: ( to the class: ) Today we will be learning the Knockback Jinx, an excellent spell for pushing things out of the way! Let's begin...

Mera read her book as the class was learning the Knockback Jinx, out of respect for Professor Flitwick's decision. After class was over Rowan turned her head to talk to Mera.

Rowan: ( silently, to Mera: ) I'm sorry that you couldn't learn Flipendo with us, Mera. But I'm sure it'll be useful to help us escape the locked room if we have to.

Mera: ( to Rowan, blankly, without taking her eyes off her book: ) It's quite alright, Rowan. I'll manage without it, plus there's other spells that I can learn in the future.

Mera and Rowan then left Charms and went to Potions, they took their seats beside Merula, who was waiting to talk to them to discuss plans on how to get in the locked room.

Merula: ( whispers to Rowan and Mera: ) Have you learned anything that might be useful?

Rowan: ( whispering: ) Professor Flitwick taught us the Knockback Jinx at Charms today, but Mera was excused from learning it for some reason.

Mera: ( blankly and silently: ) It could be useful for escaping the room and defending ourselves from what is inside it. Now, pretend to study before Snape notices our chatting. Plus, Mera needs some time of silence or she'll snap.

The three quickly started doing their studies as class had begun. Mera was happily focusing on her studies without a single thought about Merula or the vaults. She then noticed that Merula only stirred her potion five times instead of seven.

Mera: ( blankly: ) Merula, Professor Snape said to stir the potion seven times, clockwise. You only stirred it five times.

Merula: ( to Mera: ) You don't know what you are talking about.

Professor Snape: ( to Merula: ) Miss Spelling is correct, Miss Snyde. ( To Mera: ) Even though your brother was a reckless, incompetent fool, you have potential to become a middling witch by following instructions, Miss Spelling. Ten points to Slytherin.

Mera: ( blankly and politely: ) Thank you, Professor Snape.

Professor Snape: ( to the class: ) Dismissed.

Mera left the classroom and was about to go to the Slytherin Common Room to study more, when Merula grabbed her arm and started leading her to the Great Hall.

Merula: ( to Mera: ) We need to discuss plans, and don't think about skipping on eating again to study.

Mera: ( sighs ) ( blankly: ) Goodbye, silence.
